I am in the process of buy all the parts to get my 1951 Pontiac Chieftain back on the road. IS there any real danger in running 1inch rear wheel cylinders and instead of 15/16inch rear wheel cylinders? I have found 15/16 rear wheel cylinders on CPR's website and on Ebay. But I am unsure where they are made? NAPA has all the brake parts except that the rear wheel cylinders they carry are 1inch and is there a left and right rear wheel cylinder for theses cars?

Here is the link from Epay

I wouldn't. One thing you don't want to skimp on is your brakes. Get the right stuff and do it right, other people are driving their children on the same roads as you are travelling on.

Ok thanks I've been trying to buy my parts locally. But NAPA only carries the front wheel cylinders and hoses but not the 15/16 rear wheel cylinders. I'm probably going to order my parts from CPR they also carry stainless steel brake line kits for my car and have the brake shoes relined at a local brake and clutch shop in Birmingham. I have already ordered a master cylinder the same one that Luke4554 used that is posted in his build thread. I can also machine my drums on my on at the shop.

The bigger wheel cylinders will give more brake power to the rear. As for NAPA I call them No Auto Parts Available or No Actual Parts Available. They used to be an exelent store until their corporate offices got to much control.

My local NAPA is great. NAPA online shows the rear wheel cylinders listed for the Canadian market. May not even fit. Rock Auto lists the fronts but not the rear. Rebuild kits are available, but depends on the condition of your old ones. Kanter shows all 4 wheel cylinders for $135.
