How rare are these wheels?

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Tony Bones, Sep 19, 2005.

  1. These are a set of American Racing Standards I picked up from my local wheel guy. I bought them because I thought they were unique...but it looks like I may not have realized how unique they are. After looking at Dave Mann's roadsters.com, I saw that he's only seen a few pairs of them.

    Are they that rare?

    What's the bolt pattern/wheel size?

  3. I was gonna ask "hows life treating ya?"
    Apparently ..it's good ...nice find!!:)
I havent seen any of those in a looooong time !

  4. What identifying marks do they have? I know of a pair that look like them at a local yard.

  5. They'll say American Racing on them. There is a similar version w/ rounded windows, more like a Halibrand kidney bean. I think those were made of magnesium. Those would be neat.

    Bolt pattern is 4 1/2.

Yeah, I had a couple of those my uncle (old hotrodder) gace me when is was younger. Thought they were cool but sold them at a swap meet for next to nothing.
Man, I've been dreaming about those for a while...
I doubt I could afford them now, not to mention even find them.

    Tony,

I have a set of these on my nostalgia A/SR that we built back in the 60's I've heard they've become a rare piece. I'd be interested if you know what they're going for these days? Mine are a 5" bolt pattern for the Olds/Pont rear end under the car.
    Happy Holidays,

those are the palamides jr fuelers...probably from around 67-68-69 ish........the standards were more of a dish wheel.....with a more rounded hole.....the standards were one of the first wheels palamides made along with the 12 spokes...maybe around 57ish.....the first ones had a lip around the windows.....those are ultra rare.....brandon
