Hey guys, just picked up a late 50's thames panel off craigslist. This is the boxy one.Not much info out there on these.Did'nt someone make a gl*** front end for these? Going g***er so any suggestions on parts ect. are dearly welcomed. Thanks!
Thames = Ford Prefect station wagon. Believe it or not, it's pronounced Tems. Is it like this one? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J8Tehb3PsZw
I also have one. Has been in the barn for many years. Back in the late sixties/early seventies. I terrorized the natives in the thing. Big block, 2-4bbl, muncie 4spd, Firestone Indy tires.. http://www.smallfordspares.co.uk/categories http://www.oldfordautos.co.uk/phdi/p1.nsf/supppages/oldford?OpenDo***ent&part=2 http://www.scottsoldautorubber.com.au/Ford Anglia 1954-59 100E.htm
Always liked those things I had a 59 Anglia back in 69 put an axle and sub frame in it was going to put a 409 in it but my father put the Kibosh on that idea, ended up selling it before I finished it.My father's is in my photo album he had it from around 66 till about 71 I learned drive on it. There was a guy in Connecticut that had two for sale I was going to go after them but I already have to many projects.Good luck with it. Here's my Father's at Islip Speedway around 1968
Sounds familiar.cept mine was a luv project..truck 427 muncie.Dad cut it in half and made a trailer bofore I get it together! I'll figure out how to post pics along the way. Thanks
Yes they are unit body and a simple 2x4 ladder frame works well. I want to re-do mine when I get a couple of other projects done. Replace the narrowed 57 Chev rear with a 9" Ford and a revamp on front axle. Maybe a narrowed MII. mild small block auto.
Do a sixties g***er scoop, raise it 2" and paint it old Cadillac Firethorn red and thats it.. Sorry no pics, they were destroyed in fire years ago.
Here's a couple pictures of my "59 ****** wagon, like the Thames panel truck, except it has gl*** side windows, and "normal " station wagon upper & lower tailgate, instead of barn doors. It has been chopped 4 1/2", and has a 215" aluminum Buick engine, T-10 4 speed, and a narrowed Ford 9".
if anyone needs some doors, i have mint driver, p***enger, and both rear doors for one of these.also an NOS front grille panel. not tryin to turn this into a cl***ified add. im just surprised to see that some guys on here have these things. so im just letting you know.
