I have a 56 plymouth 2 door hardtop and the frame is bend. My question is: are all 56 frames the same? Since I a going to do a frame off restoration anyway, I thought I could prep another straight frame and be ready to go. Thanks for helping!
Unless the frame is really bad then any competent frame shop can fix it. Look for an old timey shop that actually knows what a frame looks like... .
Cars from that era typically had different frames for convertibles than the rest of the line. Like 73RR says above a good frame shop could probably bring yours back to spec.
my 56 hardtop Fury is sitting on a 4 door frame....every mount is there....my Fury frame had a 354 hemi and auto trans welded into it when I got it and was not very nice job....and since the Fury was a three on the tree factory car I had a nice donor frame with the standard mounts where they should be...lined the frames up side by side and all match up....I was working the floors on the Fury at the time....wished I'd would have keep the Fury frame instead of stripping it down....was a long time ago....
I can't seem to get the frame scan that I have to load. If you you would like I will e-mail it to you.
55-56 Plymouth. Hollander # 30, 31. Change crossmember to fit trans. There are a few other change, brackets ect. It appears that conv. takes the same frame on this one.
Those 56 Plymouth Frames are all the same.. The only thing that changes is the Is the 6 to 8 Motor Mount pads and Shifter Mount pin on the inside of the frame. The Trans Mount crossmember is the same in the same location for a 6 or 8.
