I wanted to know what my fellow Hambers out there do to keep those Whitewalls as white as possible. I've heard of a couple of crazy ways and just wanted to get an idea of what's the best way to go. So please let me know what you do to keep them white.

  2. Westley's Bleach White. Been on the market for years. Keep it away from aluminum.

Powder Ajax and a nail brush works good too..but Westley's is what I prefer.

    120 grit on a DA.

but to be honest I don't like them to be super bright white. A little off white looks much better.

Back in the late 50's I detailed out Cars on Weekends, and I used SOS pads, then washed with dish soaf in warm water to get the garbage ofF of tire. I even cleaned up Port-A-Walls. LOL :p

Go with what the Maker of your tire says if possible, I just bought Diamond back WW tires and they have strict recommendation on cleaning theirs. Because of their process they only recommend Simple green/409 and a stiff brush. No tire dressings at all. They claim that dressings cause the black of the tire to leach through causing them to yellow over time http://www.dbtires.com. Its hard after all these years not to dress the tire with some kind of product. So far it works... Joe

Try a search; this question has been asked and answered many times. Simple Green, steel wool, rinse with clear water.

The problem with a stiff brush is that it will leave scratches in the surface of the white part. (I learned this the hard way :() They also say Wesleys will dry out the rubber and lead to spider cracking, but I use it sparingly, sometimes on a wet rag then hose it off.

I have also used Comet cleanser or an SOS pad if they have gotten a little yellow from time.
