Looking to buy a set of car dollies to be able to roll car around the shop. Bought a set but takes 3 guys to move the car. I know they have better sets out there but not sure what to buy. Don't want to spend more than 3-400 Thanks

  5. Okay, hide your eyes from the O/T car but I use these heavy steel red dollies on all my cars. No they don't move as easy as Go-Jacks but they move easy enough and they were only $125.00. Whatever you do DON'T buy those cheezy tin pieces of ****, you will regret it.

I bought 4 from big lots about 10 years ago and have used them for everything from my T-bucket to a 4wd Chevy truck. Never had an issue with rolling different cars around on them and a big plus is when you don't have a car on them they are great for moving engines and transmissions around.

  7. I just bought ONE of those furniture dollies from H F for about $8 on
sale. Supposed to hold up to 1000 pounds. Have pretty big wheels.
Guess it might work OK for a car dolly. {I wasnt planning on using mine
    for that purpose though.)

i brought a 55 gallon barrel full of swiveling dolly wheels at an auction for $25.00, so i went and built a few sets of car dollies out of old pallet racking i had. i put 6 wheels on each instead of just 4 and i can push a 6,000 pound 1948 Packard he**** around my shop by myself.

I always think these look like a neat idea - but have no use for them in a 20x24 shop - and can't think why you would need them in a bigger shop.

i have a set of go-jacks, they roll a car around fine, but i use a floor jack or the lift to set the car on them, it is easier and faster than using the built in jacking system they are known for. i think for the same money i would rather have a GOOD set of dollies and another floor jack. i wonder how good the ones at tractor supply are?

My shop is only 18X28 and think they are very well suited for small shop use. Ive got my unibody on em now and its nice to be able to shove it all the way to one side or the other while Im working on it.

I bought em from someone selling off a bunch of stuff. They are similar to the ones in post #4

I'm not a big fan of Harbor Freight but for the money and as little as I use them the ones posted out of stamped steel with 4 heavy steel casters work fine on the concrete floors of my shop.

I've got the tractor supply ones and they work fine. Takes a bit get them pushes so that all the wheels are turned the right direction, but then it pushes fine. 20x24 garage and its nice to be able to push a project against the wall.

I just bought 4 from harbor freight for 80.00, I put white lithium grease in the bearings for the castors and on the bolts that hold the wheels on and they move a 4000 pound car very easy.
