My father just bought this '46 Ford Business Coupe, at the NSRA Nats North... it was a great deal, but it is needing a new look. I already have plans to lower the suspension a couple inches in the rear to start, but who knows, maybe lower. I am thinking that it is in need of some wide whites and chrome smoothies, or something different than what is on it. I would appreciate it if you could play with this picture, and see what you can come up with. Thanks in advance, -Joe
Here's a 3 minute drop and wheel swap. Could be a sweet car with only a little tweakin'...but you obviously know that! lol Olson
Judging from the wheels, I fear what it looks like under the hood...... I wouldn't change the stance one bit. New wheels/tires and a few garbage cans full of freshly tossed billet do-dads and she'll be right as rain. Ohh and I think it would look better with bumpers too. Just don't put red rims on it for christ's sake.
Under the hood is real tasteful, with exception to some GM performance billet valve covers (see picture). I agree with bumpers, but there is rolled pans in place, so maybe in the future, not right now. All in all, the car is in great shape, with an outstanding running gear, and hasnt been cobbled up with a bunch of billet do-dads. As far as wheels go, he has mentioned chrome smoothies, bullet caps and wide whites, just like the ones in the picture of my old Caprice, but you never know... he may change his mind. I am sure my dad will appreciate the compliments, and the photoshop renderings. -Joe
Nice car, wish my dad used his money on stuff like that instead of golf clubs and junk. OK, some suggestions: Lower the car but keep a slight forward-leaning stance. Halibrand (type) wheels with more rubber on, those low profile tires don't look right (IMO). Get rid of the rear view mirror (maybe put a small, chromed one there instead). Put some bumpers on to "add some weight" to the bottom of the body, and enhance the look of a low car. By adding a rear bumper you'll also get rid of that elephant's ass look in the rear. And another one:
I gotta say, these are some nice Photoshop jobs, but it cracks me up the way so many people can't help but put a stormy sky, or the like, in the background. I'm not criticizing because I don't know how to do any of it, but it sure is comical to me.
Well, since the car was photographed in front of other cars, it's pain in the ass to retouch the background when you lower the body. To keep the original background, one had to actually draw parts of the cars from scratch. It's a lot easier just to erase the background. As a bonus, you get a background that doesn't interfere with the car's lines. I chose the background 'cause the colors matched the colors of the car. I could've just put a black or white surface behind the car, but that would've been kinda dull don'tya think? Next time I think I'll go with this background
Sell the billit wheels to finanace the rest of the mods for this car. The paint job isnt really what im into, I think it would look loads better with a solid color, like a gloss black with chromies and some ww's.
I'd do one of two things here: 1. Black steel wheels with no caps and wide whites - heavy rubber rake and get the car as low as you can. The photoshop above is pretty good. 2. Radir 5 spokes and wide whites. That paint could pass for having a 60's feel if you give it the right touches elsewhere. This would be easier to pull off than the above I think...
My old Avatar has a Dk Blue 46 Tudor with Chome OEMS and WWW or Later 60's, Radir tri-ribs on Blackwalls, Chop it, drop it and put some bumpers on it, it looks like they ran out of money before the chrome was finished.
OK, third version: Radirs with whitewalls, outlined flamejob and Alfred E Neuman sticker. Looks great IMO.
A little update, the car has been completely wet sanded and wheeled, and is just gleeming now. There is a new set of wheels and tires on it, dad opted for a set of steel wheels and blackwalls. I painted them a real light shade of grey, and it looks right. Seems that winter has hit us, so the only shots that I have are from in the garage. I have a set of drop blocks for the rear (thanks to flatheadpete) and they will be installed in the very near future. Not the whitewalls and chrome like we originally thought, but a cool look none the less. I will pull it outside for a better shot, when the weather permits.
cant wait to see it in the spring . maybe sooner , also your dvds are still safe joe ill hook up with ya soon and get them back to ya. let me know if any thing is goin on.
