My question for you guys who are running this type set ups is....I have sleeved my front frame rails and am thinking of mounting the friction shock using one of the sleeve holes in my front frame rail. The hole I can use measures 2.375 in diameter. I was going to weld my base 2.375 washer inside the sleeve hole and then start making the rest of the washers(UHMW/steel washer/UHMW/steel arm/UHMW/steel washer/then spring with a bolt all through the center of those.) LONG STORY short those washers will all be 2.125 in diameter(except the one welded in place), is that going to be to small to make these type shocks work. this is a Fenderless and hoodless truck, should be somewhat light. Sorry no pic, won't let me upload. Hopefully I'll get it figured out to show you the set up. Thanks for any advise. Tony
That is kinda small. The Offenhauser/speedway ones work but the smaller ones dont seem as good. Also a spring is a must to make it work. You could use multiple washers on a square or splined shank.
I was thinking of using an old valve spring or make one of those Star looking 1/4 thick washers that have a raised center??? What seems to be the best working diameter on all those washers?
