I gotta say though I've never bought a car sight unseen, I've bought many a part sight unseen. Paul, who started this thread, sold me a hood and was very honest about the condition of it. We negotiated a fair price and he even p***ed it off to a buddy of mine at a show to get it to me. He's a stand up kinda guy and it ****s that he got short changed. I've even been screwed by friends before. Just cause this is a cool site, dosent mean there arent a-ho's lurking here also... just my 2 cents worth.

    It's a 32 Ford 5 window coupe and they ain't cheap.

It seems you were happy at the time you purchased the car.

8 months later your unhappy with the project,,I mean the car was on E-bay and you bought it,,being a hamber or not did he lie to you about what you got?

The extra parts, were they for something other than a 32? or were they just not what you need to build that Rollin Bones style car?

Are you just experiencing buyers remorse? HRP

I have bought 2 west coast cars with mixed results. Both anticipated after talking to the seller over the phone. I get a kick out of some peoples' expectations. I always ***ume it's a POS until my questions are answered over the phone with no time to write a flowery Email response. I sent almost 20 Gs to the west coast based on pictures and my good judge of a persons honesty.

Is the purpose of this post to tell us you make poor purchase decisions?
    I don't get it.

I thought i got burnt by a hamber on a car but it was more my fault than his. I looked at the car with stars in my eyes and never looked close at the pics. When I got the car I was pissed at the condition plus it would not start. I got a battery and it fired up and I sold it out of anger. Now i look back I wish I would have cooled down and thought it thru but it was all knee jerk.

No Buyers remorse. I can deal with the body (and the amount of patches that was really needed) but parts were all not for any kind of related 32 build. Spoke to seller the day I recieved the car. said he was going to make it right then ( 8 months ago)

Post was just meant to tell guys to be careful

I almost bought one sight unseen but wised up and went to see it. What a POS not at all what the owner said it was. I will NEVER buy a car unless I see it and can crawl underneath it.

What were the parts that you got with it? Maybe they were for a build style that you didn't like? If so, thats not his problem.

I have a buddy that buys and sells alot of cars. I have been with him at times while is is on the phone describing a car. We are not looking at the same car. Just saying beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
Pictures lie. I bought 300 cars 6 years ago. 1936-1966 all had been sitting in a woods for 30 to 50 years. Not a one was worth saving but looking back at the pictures they all look good. Sold a ton of parts but body panels had seen better days.

Buying a car sight unseen is like Russian roulette with four bullets instead of just one.

Really? Three pages of *****ing about buying a project car on ebay that the OP didn't bother to look at, and now (evidently) has found won't go together like a plastic model? For ****'s sake man.

one mans fair cond may be anothers rough no. way to tell without looking-----I went to see a 50 fleetline locally a few years back that the ad said had a dented left fender, when i got there the left fender was gone(make that missing) and the lft door & complete left quarter were mashed flat just think if you waited on that & seen it coming off a carrier or had driven 1/2 a day to see it.I try to describe my stuff as being as rough as it is --maybe worse that way when it gets looked at there are no suprises

We can close this anytime. Just wanted to make buyers aware.

I stopped building models yrs ago when I started building the real thing.

Being on the HAMB does not make the seller immune from stupidity. How long have they been on the site, did you review their post history and actually read some of their posts?
I would never spend big bucks on an unseen car, if I ever had the kind of money you spend to buy a car for sure I would look first, a airplane ticket and rental car cost less than 10-20 grand and you can also do some site seeing.
