Got my powergen today. It is to suit my 8ba. I am running twin 94 Carbs. I haven't fitted it yet, but it looks a tight fit. Has anyone got any info they can help me with. I have read in the past about grinding a small amount of the front carb, but it still looks if it is a tight fit. Could I solve it by raising the mount and getting a longer belt. I don't want to run a side mount bracket. Thanks in advance. Rok.
How much space do you have between the front of the motor and the radiator core? Could you place 1/2 spacers on each pully and compensate with the bracket to the generator to buy half an inch? Doc.
Thanks guys, It looks like I might only need about 1/2 in. to make it fit, but cannot move pulleys forward because the crank pulley is close to the front crossmember. Rok.
Rocky can you space the carbs up so that the powergen sits under them. I think Corey has Carb spacers to do this.
Didn't know that one either. We did prune a little off the rear of our housing , probably half the amount between the rear and the vent slots. With the end plate fitted you don't notice.
I just put mine on last night. Its pretty close to my 97's but it fits. I did find that the mount didnt fit to the manifold very well and may be a little cockeyed.
Thanks for all the info. I will try a few of the options. I think if I contact Flatoz and see about the spacers first. Then possibly see about shortening the case. This is what I have. The alternator, on the car, is 6ins long from the centre of the pulley to the thread holding the main wire. The original Gen and the Powergen are 8 1/2'' long. The orig Gen is 4 1/2'' in DIA. and powergen is 5'' in DIA. Original generator on stock manifold. Final option might be this setup. I am only putting this up out of interest and hope it might help a few others on here. (And yeah I know I should have ordered the short one.) Rok.
Thanks Guys. It was a fairly easy change-over when I got all the parts together. My electrician suggested I put a fuse in the main power line. Which I done. Rocky.
