In 1958 my dad found this 5 window coupe for sale near chicago. he purchased it for my uncle in the Clarksville area of tennesee. who raced it for years. he painted it and added a little cartoon skunk on the back and the "lil stinker" was born. I was talking to my cousin who said "wouldnt it be cool to find it" Well I instantly thought of the hamb. here is the only picture i have my cousin may have more. I know it was raced at beech bend dragstrip. anyone recognize it?
Local Clarksvillian here, never seen or heard of anything like that but I'll ask my dad. He's been here since about that time.
I talked to my dad about the car and he thinks it belonged to George Sheppard and was traded to a guy from Nashville for a 55 Chevrolet named Wilbur Keatts or Cates?? He said the engine was later pulled and replaced with a sbc with side exiting pipes and was painted maroon. A guy named Randall Burns may have ended up with it.
thanks 64cyclone, those are some solid leads. George Sheppard is my uncle. my cousin is looking for more pictures. with the power of the hamb maybe we can locate this one. appreciate all your help!
Bump for a *****in' coupe! I put this on my Instagram feed yesterday hoping one of my meager following might know something or re-post it. Good luck in your search and keep us updated.
