Hi yall, has been awhile since posted. have been crazy busy with school and life. Thinkn my 63 will be on the street in may. exhaust goes on on the 25th. tank and lines soon. soo exciting. heres the thing. i want to lower the ol girl. thinkn a good few inches in the front. maybe more. i haven't had much luck finding anything googling the interweb. has anyone any good leads or suggestions on how to accomplish this? 63 4 doors of fun fairlane 500 260 v8 hit my album for pix thanx all
Easy, clip a coil off the front springs and put a pair of blocks under the rear. Not much more too it unless you really want to go low.
They got ya covered, just be carefull of those front springs, they are tough to get out. Use some good quality spring clamps the cheap ones dont cut it.
Got the blocks on the back of my 63 also. Still have to take out the front springs and cut a coil myself!
not sure if I want to cut oe springs. toucan, good idea i'll look into it. or suppose i could check mack's to see bout replacements. thanx all!
Why would you not cut the springs? Been done for the last 60 some odd years again and again. The Aerostar coils won't work in your case. You can very quickly make a spring compressor that is correct for this car. Here's mine.
It's just that simple! I lowered my '64 Fairlane in 1969 this way, and it's still the best/easiest/cheapest/quickest way to go ....
