Hot Rods Curbspeed Coupe. "Holy Hell" 10/4/2020

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by curbspeed, Dec 19, 2010.

  1. Powder coating the seats white is great idea. Most times you see these seats polished so having them white would be a nice change. Seems like they'd be cooler too and less maintenance to keep them looking good.

Don't worry about being slow. I've been working on the '48 F4 for about 5 years now. I'm usually in the garage at night after my kids are in bed and don't typically have much time during the weekend to work on it. Do what you can with the time you have right?

Keep up the great work, I've really enjoyed following along on your build.

Somehow I may be missing this...the seat cushions are from what? Or are they custom?

Sweet lookin seats, I like em very much! I wouldn't be worried about apologizing for being slow as molasses , to some guys it's a hobby, not a job, it wouldn't be any fun if it was a job, hell I have been the better part of 10 years with my car , sometimes it just takes longer, car looks great , keep plugging away !

  4. I just grabbed them out of my 29rpu to have something to sit on while mocking up the seat height. I will not be using them in the coupe. They go back in the rpu. Custom seat cushions will be made. Sorry for the confusion.

  6. Thanks Roberto! Installed my NOS aircraft seatbelts that just came out of the box for the first time in 60 years! Wow. Dated 4-53. Small update but never the less it's something.

adjustable seats means other people can drive it? Yikes! isn't that like lending your girlfriend out.... nice build job curbspeed. I love the swing tilt of the seats, will make that space behind much more accesable

Those little details are what makes it all come together. Coupe is Lookin bad-ass man keep it going.
I purchased a set of those belts from Hamel, one nos. one used. I love em and not sure what looks better, a little patina or when they are nos.
Any way your car suits them well. Keep Rockin!!!

  10. DROD, I figured if I was gonna use a safety item like belts I wanted them to be good. Hate to have some old patinaed belts rip and send my head into the roof. Because it's a lot closer now than before. Not that it's likely that they would tear apart but just the same I'm glad I was able to get them. Working on firewall next. Onward!

  11. If I didn't make the seats adjustable I would never hear the end of it from my petite wife whose legs would never reach the pedals. I doubt she's gonna like the vision anyways to drive it. But at least I'm making an attempt. ha!!!!

  12. Wish I had a set of those belts in my 35

  14. just wondering if any updates are coming down the road ? cheers !

  15. Motor is going to rebuild. Will be working on fuel tank and rollbar. Nothing too exciting to post. I had a tiki to carve for a customer. Busy making money for the motor rebuild. This will have to hold you over until I can get some progress shots. Sorry.

I was sick of seeing progress of that car anyways. Nice tiki, dale. The tiki won't hold up well here in the rainy northwest though.

  18. That sure is a big shift knob ! Nice Tiki !

  19. Ok, I have been shamed to post some pics. Here is the firewall in. It's a little unorthodox in configuration but it's how I wanted to do it to give me maximum room inside and keep the top of the firewall free from stuff. I will be able to mount my coil and maybe something else back behind the motor and keep it visually uncluttered. Heater is mounted where I want it. Trans tunnel is done but just sitting in there for the pics. Still need to make a piece to go around pedals. Tach housing is mounted and is easily readable Photo's tell the story. Hood tops are just setting up there for looks. Block is going to the machine shop this week. I am making progress but have been busy with crap. Happy now Steve? Rob?

  20. Man, I don't know about that tach location ??? But hey if you can read it while driving from the back cool ! Whats up with the horn on the fire wall , say it isn't so please ! Heat and A/C check ! Looks good !

  21. Thanks, How about you move to where there is some sunshine. You would be happier than me movin' to "Joisey" ha!

  22. yes I'm happy now !

  23. I can read it and listen to the motor. Tach is really for just looks . I like it there. You'll see. The horn stays. It is a Bull horn with a manual diaphragm. It all will work together. Pictures are hard to get the feel of where I'm heading. Working on getting an A/C unit this week so I can figure out where to put it. Yes it will be it hidden as much as possible.

I had these exact belts in my roadster! Pulled them out of the same box, with the same dates you have. I miss my roadster.:(

  29. I'm going to btt this to the top ! we want updates Dale ! LOL

  30. Thanks Rob for being my conscience. I have not got anything major done. Spending money on the Olds 371 J-2 rebuild. Short block is finished. Heads will be in for rework soon. Funds have been tight. Wanted to go to Bonneville again this year but I have decide to forgo that proposition. I fabbed up mounts for my aircraft anti-freeze tank that I will be using for fuel tank. It took up most of the trunk. It is 20 gallons and will be good for the long trips. The framework for the tank will also locate the box that will house my A/C unit in front of the tank. Not much of an update but it something. Also making a tool compartment in the back hinged with a piano hinge and NOS Eelco aircraft style hinged latches that I got from the Hamb classified section. Still have a few details to tidy up but this part is getting closer.
