Guys, I did a search and came up with some good examples of channeled Model As with full hoods but not many deuces. I am toying with the idea of running two different looks on my '32 3W, one will be a early '60s look with chrome reverses, pie crust slicks, open hood and then maybe an earlier '50's look with a full hood ( hide the SBC sins) and black steel wheels with narrow Firestones. Anybody have any pics of channeled '32 3W with full hoods to share?
I like your plans. On the Hot Rod Craft Forum there is a 32 3w pic thread. You may find some examples there. A few are channeled. Here's a link. http://hotrodcraft.com/forum/index.php?topic=22.0
Here's a few from the '50s ... * Unknown chopped & channeled Deuce 3wd: * Gordon Pao's "Hawaiian-style" chopped & channeled full-fendered Deuce 3wd: c* The "Mike Sharp (Juggers Racing Team) / @Bob McCaffrey (Motor Monarchs of Ventura)" Deuce 3wd Drag Coupe:
Man...there don't seem to be a ton of channelled cars with hoods period. It makes sense though, took alotta work to put one one. Heres a couple more I could find. I threw in a couple Lynn Yakel pics...thats kinda the channelled/chopped with a hood car that comes to my mind although its a 5 window. JohnnyA
I really like the looks of this one. I would think that more Bonneville racers would be full hood channeled cars.
So-cal Tex - I know of several "full hood channeled" Deuce 5wd coupes that have run at Bonneville ... but looking through my Bonneville photo archives, it seems as if all of the'32 3wd coupes are sitting on top of the frame.
Here's Larry Pillard's "full hood channeled" Brookville Deuce 3wd: NOTE to the "H.A.M.B. Trad Police": Please just imagine this car with a different tire/wheel combo ... or look away!
Not a lot of them out there with a full hood.. the closest I could find in my stash was this channeled 5W with a full hood. I did find a channeled 3W with a full hood, although the sides haven't been modified to work with the channel..
Tex***peed - FYI ... The #6c is Lynn Yakel's Deuce 5wd ... same car that Floorboardinit posted 2 pics of (in post #5) ... and same car that DaddyO's..Deuce post 3 pics of (in post #15) ... and the same car that inspired my father to build the "HEMI32" 5wd in 1954.
LOVE the bobbed rear fenders! Are you going to put cycle fenders on the front? Like where this is headed.
I am not sure of the exact orgins of this car as all I got was the body and trashed original frame. All I know is it was built in the '50's ith a lead chop and bobbed model A Fenders in the rear. The car came from the Seattle area and we thought it was the Bo Knab car but another Hamber calims to have it. I am not aq big fan of cycle fender on the front. I think the bobbed rear fenders will look tough with a 10 " pie crust slick hanging out of them.
