My wife had a ball, we plan to be there on Thursday night staying at the Orleans with a full pass. We do a Route 66 road trip out to the show, took our '63 Mercury Bellflower Custom last year. This year we're taking our '11 Cadillac CTS-V, can't wait to hit the road (2,050 mile each way).

Here's some pictures and our blog of last years trip.

The Palms is really nice and not too far from the Orleans, if you get a 1 bedroom suite it will be one of the nicest if not the nicest room you have been in. I'm a local and love to eat so if you need any suggestions just ask. One place I highly recommend to all of you going is "Hot N'Juicy Crawfish" best place for seafood I have ever been, and Vegas has so many good places to eat it's ridiculous. I hope it's short weather by then, but today was really gloomy and rainy, while last week was nice and sunny.

P.S. The Palms was about $125 when I stayed there, can't remember if it was a weekend or not.

Score a large coffee in the morning, put on the walking boots and make my way to the Viva show:)
After the show, score a rental car and cruise until i fly back on 4/19…might cruise to the bonneville saltflats…….

(don't forget to check out the RatCityRukkus carshow across the road from the Stratophere Hotel/casino on 3/30..)
Was there in 2011, got married and had one hell of a good time!!

yeah, if you like overpriced, previously frozen seafood. eew!

go to crab corners on eastern and flamingo, any cab driver will know how to go.
    waaaaay better!

but the smaller crown and anchor across the street from hot and juicy is a cool pub...

Well I'm back and recovering. Didn't know what to expect but I had a GREAT time. I would say that the car show is definitely secondary to everything that is going on, but there were still plenty of cool rides to see.

The music was the main attraction and it was awesome. Some very interesting characters walking around, but everyone was especially friendly. Being by myself I had no problems stricking up conversations with people. Even met people on the plane going to Viva and others on the way back.

I especially liked the pool area. It was like walking into a '60s Elvis movie. AND where can you get $2 Budweiser tall boys at any other event this big? I was shocked at the reasonable beverage prices, especially it being Vegas and all.

My hats off to the organizers, it was quite the experience. I would recommend this show to anyone except those that have any preconceived notion of what a car show SHOULD be. I would pick this show over any NSRA event any day!

Steve, Glad you liked it. I'm from Iowa and this was our second time ,8 of us went and I'm the youngest, 62 and we all had the time of our life!!! We did it all ,the pool, the bands the cars and the women's clothes and bathing suits were so great,And your right, the Pool did seem like a 60s Moive. ALL SOOOOO Cool! It's so neat to see the younger people doing the Jive from the 40's,Some even put on a show outside at the band area!We can't wait to go next year?

I'll be renewing our Vows at the Graceland Chapel with Elvis on May 18th..glad to hear the good review. We are going to stay at the HardRock. Need a good recommendation for a restaurant for about 10 people. Nice but not too expensive..since I'll be picking up the tab. :) Close to the Hard Rock would be good.

  18. Stevie,

Congrats on making the trip, and glad you had a great time. Just have to remember, VLV is a music festival, that a car show has grown up along side of. I've been to all but the first, there were probably 75 cars at the 2nd VLV, and about 750 this year.

If you come to have a good time, a good time will be had !

    Johnnie.
