Bought a '40 Olds and I am having a time finding sources for parts. It needs new floors and I could only find one source for floor pans, and they were not for the right model car. Mine is a Series 70 and these are for a Cusom Cruiser, which I think is a Series 90? Would I be able to trim these down and make them fit? Also, any sources for interior parts (headliner, seat covers, etc.)?

I would try Kanter Auto Products. If you like they will mail you a free catalog also. Here is the link:

Start your research !!! GM used shared body platforms back in those years. Check the Buick, Olds, Pontiac and Chevy forums. I know that a Hollanders Interchange Manual may help. Also trunk lid from a 39 Chevy fit real good on a friend's 39 Olds Coupe years ago. We also salvaged a 40 Olds floor from a 4-door and put it in a 40 Olds Coupe. I believe that Olds built a 60, 70 and a 90 series in 1940.
If I still had my old Hollanders Books, I woulod be glad to try and look it up for you. Find out which 40 Olds was the same platform as the 40 Chevy and start looking for that Chevy floorboard to replace yours.
Another thought is that as the cars grew bigger (up to maybe 1948) so did the floors. A clean donor floor from a later year may fit well with a bit of trimming.
I assume that your Olds is going to become a "Hot Rod" and will not be restored. Good Luck......................... Jeff

My first car was a '40 Olds' 90 series coupe with an inline flat 8 in it. LOVED that car and wish I never sold it. How about some pics just for nostalgia's sake?

Thanks for the replies guys. I really didn't know where to start looking with this car, when I had a '57 Chevy it was easy! I ordered that catalog from Kanter and will probably order the manual from Hollander, reminds me of my "What Fits What" for Harleys! Yes, it will be a mild street rod, not sure exactly what direction I am going to go with it, need to take care of the obvious first. Here's a pic:

we have a 40 olds too, but ours is the coupe. are you going to be doing a custom grille on your car if so we'd be willing to buy or trade you for some of the parts we have like original bench seat. The car has been in our family since it was new, so we have quite a bit of parts that we could take pictures of etc and we may have some extra parts. The 40 olds seem really rare and hard to find parts.
