I am a new member, but have been reading posts for quite some time. I have a 69 AMX that I am restoring. I am looking for information on removing paint without warping sheetmetal.
Welcome from Nebraska. One suggestion to make your stay here pleasant. Continue to search and learn about paint removal and so on. However, don't mention a 1969 AMX or any other OT vehicle. THe basics apply, but the details are best left unreported. There is a TON of good info here on all sorts of things that will help you. But, blend in. Don't open yourself up to terror!! (smiling)
Native Texan and glad to have another AMC guy - I'm working on a 1968 AMX as well although the paint and body on mine is in relatively good shape - Chemical stipping really isn't the way to go - Check your area for someone who does "Soda Blasting" which isn't nearly as hard on the metal - I've also heard but not tried crushed walnut shells - Good luck
I have been searching the HAMB for quite a few years. There is a lot of great information on this forum. Thanks all for the wealth of information.
