I just got my 53 Chevy truck and am looking for a s10 frame. Does anyone know a good place to go get one?
I want updated suspension and and disc brakes I have heard the s10 swap is the easiest and most affordable way to go.
man u are in the wrong place to start off talking s-10 frameswaps. eventho the dream truck had a frame swap and a 265 sbc in nov 1954 just saying tom
Best place for info like that is 67-72chevy.com. Or use your stock frame get a mm2 ifs with disk and a conversion for the back.Or a camaro stub for the front. Jake
The easiest and cheapest isn't always the best. A Jag XJ front suspension from the mid 80's won't cost much different than the going price of doner S-10 trucks and it's a pretty simple install. Then you won't be sitting there scratching your head on how to make the sheet metal and front bumper fit nor cutting half the sheet metal out from behind the grill to make the front of the frame and steering fit.
You can upgrade suspension and drivetrain with the stock frame much easier than the S10 swap. It's hard enough to get front sheet metal lined up right on these old trucks with the stock frame, don't make it harder with a frame swap. Ch***is Engineering makes everything you need to hang a modern drivetrain on your original frame. The stock frame is a straight ladder type frame, makes it easy.
If for not one of the many other reasons an s10 and a 53 chevy have a different wheelbase. Most of these swaps usually end up with some wheels sunk in and not centered in the wheel wells. Yea you can do it and make it look decent... But other options are easier
Suggest you beef up the stock frame with some boxing if you are upgrading the motor. Remember your stocker only put out 105HP.
