So what have I done lately? Filled a bunch of holes in the dash Put the master cylinder and throttle pedal in. I got my tri-power from suedesled although it is just sitting there and not bolted down yet, I need to paint the motor first. I have ****ed around with a few quad headlight setups and nothing seems to jive, so I am going to use a set of guides on there with the shocks incorporated with the headlight stands I ground more welds I started to get it down to bare metal, which takes a while and ****s Cut out some templates for the windshield Got the mount for the mustang steering box tacked on, waiting for my buddy at the machine shop to finish making my new steering arm to final weld it. got column mounts in finished with all the interior sheet metal
When I grow up I want to be just like Plow Boy! I love that darn thing. Beautyful work. I never get tired of seeing it. Please keep posting progress pictures. Love it!
Damn Aaron, that thing makes me want to give up on building hot rods, I can't compete. But I'm still not sure about those headers.
I think it still looks a little *** heavy....maybe I just need to see it in person... I think some crazy wheelpants on the front with some fins hanging off them would look slick on it
I hope you found your cash in the lander. If not your old lady has it. What is that column and steering box by your compressor? Is it good/bad? If it is good and will work fot the Gunn do you want to get rid of it?
It is a F1 Ford Column. That one is one of my keepers, it will probably go into the "Rocket Queen" when I start on it. And I got the money, thanks. The tires are Coker 1 inch whitewalls 6.70/15's
It looks real good Plowboy. I can't seem to picture guides working on a car like that, it is so wild that they would look out of place I think. Perhaps try a pair of canted quads off a 62 Chrysler...Mount them directly to the side of the grille shell....Tilt that grill shell out at the top a bit. Kind of like this Weesner drawning... Just a thought....
Oh my Plowboy, these are the post I dream of. Pictures of the beauty called the Lunar Lander, I am in awe, and am everytime I see it. Those heades work great, the body lines are killer, and I really dig the wheels man. I know, it sounds like I'm ****ing up, but that car makes me wet. That might be too much info, but you get the idea. I really do wait anxiously for you to post pics of this car, and of the space truck. I just can't get enough. Set the body back on end and I will bow to the totem of the Lunar Lander and pay homage to the rod god that is the Plowboy.
The grille is not tall enough for quads. They really look out of proportion. The guides actually look the best out of everything I have tried, trust me. Gus come on now don't be that way! Ha Ha Ha How about I start another one and you just have to finish it and spend all of the real money? Ha Ha Ha
i love pics of the lander i could work in the shop all ****ing day and then see some pics of it and i just head back out there, looks great keep the progress pics coming. p.s. how the hell do you do all of this work with those pretty wheels and tires on, i would think you would get overspray, sparks and all kinds of **** all over them. at least i know i would.
Here is the front of the thing again. Quads just really don't flow too well with the shape of the grille, if it were rounder maybe they would. In that Weesner drawing those headlights would be around 3 or 4 inches I figure. Definitely not the T-3 size. I have a few different setups with those and they are all too big. If someone can photo shop something I like in there I wouldn't be all to opposed to running quads, as it was my intention to have them from the beginning.
Plow,... can I call you Plow? Anyway, I think that baby is screaming for some zoomies and a blower... couldn't find a vintage blower profile shot, but if you can build that car, you can squint. I'll work on some headlight ideas. Of course I'm still madly in love with that little thing. I just wanna hop in it and drive...
did you save the letters off the hood you used for a rear pan? if so, you NEED to re-install the middle 3 upright to say G O D. cuz' that sir, is what that car is.
you sonofa*****!!! instead of being happy for you like a normal person, i get pissed when i see pics of that car!!!!!!!!! i gotta tow my thumb outta my *** and do somethin!!!! a friend of mine sells shockmount/ headlite stands that he manufactures there really nice polished aluminum. ill try to post a picture.. i hate you !!!
I was going to run some zoomies but they won't work, they needed to be up higher to clear the steering on the other side. I should tell everyone that I built them myself because I put some pics up a while back and everyone was *****ing because I bought them. Ha Ha Ha They are ****** fenderwell headers for a 62 nova. Not cheap either, but they look better than anything I could ever put together! Ha Ha Ha Gl***guy, don't be hatin'....we all share the love around here.
for dual headlights, how about those funky 60's ,trucker like side by side dual headlight stands? i think there was a thread about thme here awhile back...
A while back I said the mid-west was a rodding wasteland...man, was I WRONG ! I'm officially eating those words.
The truck headlights are too big as well. They are about the same size as the 59 impala bezels and they were too big too, so were the 59 Lincoln, 64 Caddy, etc...etc. I have about 700 bucks worth of headlights that didn't work out. Go ahead and kill the Keel albums, flamedabone is gonna hook me up with some CDR's. The originals run around 80 bucks a piece on e-gay, so for 160 bucks I'd rather keep the roadster! Ha Ha Ha
Here's another quickie rough sketch. I know you didn't ask my opinion, but here's what I thought the front of the Lander should look like. It would be fairly simple to build with some U-bends of 1.5" or maybe 1.625" exhaust tubing for the front-side 'lip'...but the curve on the backside would be a little harder. Simple (flat) frosted plexigl*** covers on the front of the 'bucket' with 2 small bullets....a pair cheapie projector beams underneath each cover. Similar to Anthony's bubbletop, but different. I think quads under frosted covers will look way cooler than off the shelf Guides....and I also think the extra time and effort would be worth it.
