Ever since I built my T Bucket, I've wanted a nice, simple, air cleaner. I wanted one of the small Hilborn style, but the only ones being made were 13" long. And that was the "short" one. B&M had made a style I liked, but that was a long time ago and the few that popped up on ebay, were... well... shit.

About 2 years ago, I commented in the air cleaner thread that they were needed. A few others agreed and Dennis O'Brien of O'Brien Truckers chimed in that he was stepping up to the plate. Not long afterwards, they came out. I had to have one, but I could never convince myself to part with the $175. I talked myself into something else, until last week. I found myself with a little extra cash and pulled the trigger. After sending payment, I wondered if it would be what I'd been searching for. Would it be too big? Would it be of thin construction and cheaply made?

Well, ladies and gentlemen, feast your eyes on the PERFECT aircleaner for a single 4 bbl powered T Bucket. Get what you pay for? Dennis is hitting it outside the park!

I'm not sure it's offered, but I'd bet if you asked they could make one for you. Or you could do one yourself.

I'm thinking of painting the inside red, but I'm going to ponder that for a while. How do you mess with perfect?

look's like it was made for your car man!

  6. This is %100 what I've been looking for myself.

Same dilemma...all the cool ones were too big. Now that there's a cool one that's perfect...I'll have to justify forking out the dough.

    BIRTHDAY PRESENT!!!?!?!???!!?? :)

  7. I agree, looks perfect. Gotta love when it works out like that. Money well spent.

    That's what mine was! My b-days tomorrow.:D

And man, it's nice, thick and heavy polished aluminum. Just like they should be. Has a "made right" feel to it. The supplied acorn nut on the stem was the finishing touch.

I know exactly how you feel, I tried several on my shoebox, then decided to step up and buy one from Obrien similar to yours, but has the front screen. I never want to try another breather again.

Got that right! What's making me hesitant is the air filter. It wouldn't seem right with the inside red and then the filter sitting righht there. Now, if I had a screen, I'd just lightly fog spray the screen and be done with it.

Like I said, I'll keep looking at it and see what I come up with. Maybe a thin red sleeve to cover the filter? Hmmm..... half the fun of a new toy is making it yours.;)

As for painting between the fins? Probably not. If the fins were closer together, it wouldn't even be a thought. But these are about an inch apart and that much paint would take away from the beauty of the scoop. Well, to me anyway.

I may have to go that way as well. I bought a cheap (if you can call $85. cheap) 14" round one with ribs that I'm not happy with. The polished top was so bad I spent a few hours re-doing it, but it's still not very good !!!
