Ford 302 timing gear marks at 12 o'clock & 12 o'clock!?!?

Hey guys, so I am replacing my timing set on a '75 302 engine, and I notice that the position of the dimples on the cam & crank gears are both at 12 o'clock before I removed them. All instructions I have seen install the cam gear mark at 6 o'clock and the crank gear to 12 o'clock, but to my understanding, the cam rotates twice for every one turn of the crank. So...this technically should not matter? I can go ahead and install the new set in the same orientation?

    Regards,

    Brandon

If #1 cylinder isn't on top dead center when you set the cam gears at 12 & 12 the timming mark won't be on the mark with the timming light on #1 cylinder.
