I would like to run 2 oil pressure gauges. One one my firewall and one inside the car. I have two Stewart Warner Twin Blue gauges but one is mechanical and one is electric.
On my 302 I have the electric sending unit (pictured)

Where can I put the fitting for the mechanical gauge? There are a few 1/4-NPT fittings on the block. Can I use one of those or does it need to be close to the oil pump?

    Thanks

I can't. The electric is wired while the mechanical gauge is copper tube.

Duh, stupid me, I could "T" it before the electric sending unit. Is that what you mean?

I think he means 'T' the 1/8" or 1/4" NPT port, not the sender unit. This method is not only logical but will provide a good base line on the gauges (to see if one is high or low.) As a general rule, I would trust the mechanical gauge any day.

Unscrew the sender and install a tee. Put the sender on one leg of the tee and the mech gauge fitting on the other.

did the stock oil sending unit work with the electric stewart warner gauge ? curious since I am wanting to do the same.. IF so, is it accurate or should I go ahead and purchase a SW sending unit

From what I can tell the stock sending unit is just for the idiot light. I haven't verified it for certain because I haven't had it connected yet. Things are going a little slower these days.

The electric is just an idiot light. Use the mechanical one if you want e reading on pressure.

  11. I'm running both. Just put a "T" in. Easy.
