And some from the family. Uncle Frank was the Parts Man at a Nash Dealership in Trenton, so that's what he drove. Uncle Fred owned the Chevy Dealership/Sunoco Station in Chepechet RI.
Man these are so cool. All I have is one of my grand Dad. He used to be a cab driver in Mexico. I need to see if I have one with him and his cab.
My Grandfather's who got me into cars. Pic taken 16 years ago. Car now 100 point restoration and mine. He drove from upstate NY to SoCal and dragraced, started the family and drove back.
Nice Thread, I guess this thing is in our blood. My old man still has the Jaguar and the Continental.
This is the best thread I've ever seen on the HAMB! Fantastic stuff! I dont have any pics (my ex destroyed all my photos... bitch!) but my dad had a 1927 Chrysler sedan, a 1947 Riley Sport Sedan, and was offered a Bugatti roadster for 50 pounds ($100) back in 1954. He turned it down because it was a 2 seater, and he had us kids to lug around!!!!
The yin-yang type patch that appears to be on his shoulder would confirm 29th, if that's what it is. "Red" would be a sector of one of the larger beaches, probably Omaha if he was in the 29th. Also, the picture taken in Maryland would back that, since the 29th was recruited from the DC/Maryland/Penn'a area.
I HAVE to scan the pic of my Mom in Dad's 58 Ford shortly after he bought it. She's holding a handgun. My Mom. Crazy!
Oh, and to contribute, I haven't got a pic scanned of any of them, but my grandparents had a '38 Chevy when they met (grandpa's right after graduation from college), then a '52 Buick that they sold in Japan (had to paint it black because the Japanese wouldn't buy any other color), followed by a Morris Minor and a late '50s Mercedes that grandpa got sick of replacing the hood ornament on. Dad learned to drive on that one, had a 4-speed column shift with an automatic clutch. He said that it would do wicked burnouts if you revved it up while holding the column then dropped it into gear. I think a couple transmission replacements came out of that. After that they bought a '65 GTO convertible and a few muscle-y Mopars. Then it was Ford Fiestas and Escorts, I've got the last Escort my grandpa bought. It runs well, but it's boring. My Mom's parents were driving a bullet nosed Stude when she was born (1954) and thereafter bought exclusively GM wagons and sedans, since they lived in Saginaw and grandpa was a salesman to the factories. God only knows what they were driving before the war. She doesn't recall anything with much detail except some early sixties Bonnevilles.
Wow! Nifty pictures fellas. Ahhh....back when men were hard boiled and didn't spend as much time in front of the lookin' glass as their dames and women had a certain classy, dignified, style and grace about them.
heres a few of mine , when my uncle built the 34 roadster in the late 50s and early sixties now the roadster is mine and working on putting it back together just like he did
Hello Here is some old picks from Sweden, it is from my fathers 31 model A. He drove it a lot and they even use it in the fire department (out in the country). They had 4 cyl engine and water pump on a little trailer after the A, and all the men stood on the running boards when driving to the fire. After the war it was hard to get gas in Sweden so they drown it on kerosene also. I know my father liked the A very much, he was very happy when I bought my A. Later Lars
