I watched a Marty Robbins race movie on Youtube.com last week . had a lot of onstage performance and stock car racing.
Is that a "Y" block I see under that hood - shouldn't be too hard to dup off the album cover - hardest thing will be to match that COLOR - OMG
There's a thread from 2008 - Devil Woman racecar - check it out for some info - and also Google it for some interesting stuff.
^^ +1 Became an instant "must have" when I first saw it and remains one of my all time favorite album covers. Ed
I have never seen this photo! There is some info. on this car but no photo before. Thanks HAMB'ers for all the help on Marty's racing history. I have been wanting to try and re-creat his 33 Ford Jalopy Stockcar. I hope to retire this year and want to try this out.
Found on eBay: Stock Car Racing 1967.....Hell On Wheels...with Marty Robbins. I think there is a total of 10 different movies on this disk. Cost was $14.95 with free shipping.
The Marty Robbins 34 Ford coupe on the album cover was bought from Bobby Allison. Bobby ran it as the #312, probably because of the engine that was in it. I doubt that it still exists. Stock cars had a way of getting notted up in those days.
A few years ago at the Huntsville Speedway Alabama. I talked with Marty's son Ronnie. He was station here in the army in 1970 time period. He was a often visitor at a friends race car shop during this time period.. He said the Devil Woman car was in Texas.. Also the car was built by Preacher Hamilton in Nashville as per Ronnie and the late Bobby Hamilton who is Preachers Grandson.... . Add all Bobby Allison 312 cars were chevrolets.. The Marty car is a 5 window with the B pillar remover..
