All my wires seem to be correct.. But only the right one blinks...All new Bulbs,Tail lights, and Relay...cleaned the switch inside also...Using a tester shows me..when I turn on the right side.. the power tester light blinks.. when I test left side wires it just stays on, no blinking...( Im testing the Wires as they come down the steering column, From the switch ) .. Im thinking I need a new Switch on the column ..??? The current one is the original 51...
Needs to have the fluid topped off Flasher X2- I'd pick up a new one and try it before chucking the column switch.
Turn signal switches go bad. If you have power correct to all but one wire. I'm thinking the switch. My two pennies
my guess is the flasher also, but double check the ground to the light that dosent flash. If memory serves me correct the blinker is really an interruptor of the brake light. my 53 is like that. Its not a serperate circut like in modern cars. Godspeed MrC.
The brake and tail lights work fine ..So..Im guess it cant be the light..or grounding to the lights...
How about junction plug on the steering column if you are using a late model column? I found bad pin in mine, right rear wouldn't blink. Had to find wire color code for that model column and found RR didn't have continuity through 17 pin plug. Just saying.....
Check the bulb on the corresponding SIDE at FRONT of car! Burned-out filament in other bulb (front in this case) will cause rear NOT to blink. DD
Do both left bulbs light up but not blink? Flashers require enough load on them to flash, if you don't have both bulbs working it may not flash. What kind of switch, factory or add on? If factory you should have 2 wires hot when switched left, if not it's probably the switch.
If one side works, it isn't a flasher problem. It may be the switch, but remember that flashers work like circuit breakers. Current draw heats the bi-metalic strip to cause it to open. It then cools and closes. Frequently, a non-functioning turn signal circuit which just causes the turn signal to light up and not flash has too little current draw. Usually, this is due to a burned out bulb. Are your front signals working? Bad grounds and other high resistance issues in the circuit will also reduce current draw and cause the flasher to not flash. Of course, this is all moot if you have an electronic flasher.
Let me see if I am reading this correctly... when you have your left turn signal on you are getting power from the left turn signal wiring coming out of the column, correct? Same goes for the right correct? What kind of tail lights are you running? LED? Flasher canisters are like 3 bucks if you have a modern wiring kit, just fyi... if the kit is new then go get another just in case and just return it if no change happens.
If the light comes on and does not blink on one side there is not enought load. Are both front and rear lit up? If so is the side thats blinking brighter. Then check for good ground
The current can flow through a bulb in either direction, and it will light. It is possible that the brake and tail circuits are grounding through each other, this will give you a working bulb, even with a bad ground.
agreed, if you have LED tail lights they do not pull the right load for a stock flashers... you have to buy a special one made for LED lights, that is what I was getting at with my question
Since the RIGHT side does blink, the flasher is most-likely NOT the suspect component. Is the FRONT, LEFT bulb good? DD
Don't worry signaling until you get that 235 running better, sorry I couldn't resist! Check grounds at the sockets, .
