bought this off a buddy of mine, i know its a 1948 ford but can anyone identify the correct model for me ?? thanks
just picked it up , but is this still called just a coupe ? i know the cool coupes got the long sloping trunck.
thanks guys , tudor sedan ..... thats what i was looking for. its rough but ill give it alittle lovin and get it back on the road quick.
Sometimes it's better to be quiet and hide your lack of knowledge than to open your mouth and erase all doubt.....
I'm not a Ford person, I have a 47 Plymouth......but I would guess that the Super Deluxe would be the fancier model -- probably have more accessories on the dash like clock, radio, chrome trim. You can jazz those little Fords up if desired, can be pretty sharp. Here's one for sale on ebay. Here's a link to an index page of carnut.com where you can enter 48 Ford tudor and see what others have done with theirs. As the 46 and 47 models look about the same, you could look at them too. Also, I like to look at examples of the model for sale on ebay as they sometimes contain a lot of good pictures. http://www.carnut.com/photo/list/ford/ford48.html
The coneheads I know call tudors a "coach" and the fordors are "sedans". However, I'd call that a tudor sedan also.
It looks like the makings for a nice cruiser/road burner with a trunk that will hold enough for an extended road trip that takes in several rod trots over a two or three weekend or more period of time. Bout like that little Blue 40 sedan with a small block under the hood out of Waco, Tx that put in many a thousand mile day when Johnny hit rod runs hundreds of miles from home and made it home to sleep in his own bed.
yeah i really havent decided which way to go, i know i wont do another frame off like my last car but a nice cruiser with some flat black paint and some wide whites is the way i think im gonna go. its pretty solid but not as solid as i had originally thought.
Nice score! I love tudor sedans. I wouldn't do a lot to it. Just the basics to get it safe and road worthy, clean it up a bit and go have some fun. Then again, you paid for it so do whatever you want to it!
If you can find a copy of "The Rodders Journal" #12, Pat Ganahl wrote a great article on a 46 Tudor, using a low buck approach, and ending up with a good result.
Love the tudors. Perfect candidate for anything right there! Perfect color too. Posted from the TJJ App for iPhone & iPad
