I have the latest Cl***ic Trucks with Copperhead in it, but more importantly, it has that article on updating the front end of a '65 C10 shortbox. Have you guys ever covered the transition from a torsion set up to coils before?
Hey Caballo, about that brake update... I just did that exact swap onto my 64 Suburban. I used that same ECE kit as the article detailed. The guys on the phone from Early Cl***ics told me their kit was so complete that all I needed to supply was a can of wheel bearing grease and a bottle of brake fluid. They were right. Every single little trinket was included in the kit. I did the whole install in about 4 hours.
Just bought a 60 Chev short box and thought the torsion set up was kinda weird for gm but it works fine. Am I in for a surprize with this set up? Why change to coils? The dropped spindles and brake set up from early cl***ic does look like the way to go for the brakes tho.
Well sufoo, I'm thinking of putting a '73-'87 set up under it, lots cheaper than some high falutin' kit. Probably the only custom thing I will buy are the spindles. I was thinking I could get coils out of a '77-'90 RWD Caddy or even midsize GM p***enger car. Just measure my old springs and subtract how low I want to go. Loads cheaper than a magazine setup.
