Should be up to the seller to start the price....
But if he won't, start low, you can always go up.
Above prices are in the ballpark here in New England.

  9. At least the lid is there. They are always missing and can cost you $500 + - to get one. Looks like the start of something fun, good luck.

Yep, if the seller won't state a price, I'd offer 1,000$ and go up to 2,000$ - maybe 2,500$ depending on how solid the subrails and cowl are.

It looks as if the whole rear section is cut off and has another just setting there to replace it. My spidey senses tell me it was a truck conversion for gas rations.

Truck conversion? A lot of cars were turned into trucks to take advantage of the fuel rations (more) during WW2

A car in that condition is worth a heck of alot more around here than everything posted above. If you can get it for 2500 I will be extremely envious...

Oklahoma is not Pa. Cars do much better in oklahoma. And there is probably a lot more cars left in oklahoma. And probably less people looking for them.

I am ***uming it has no ***le. If it does, that adds 4 or 5 hundred to the value. And yes, the prices above are "good" prices. I never pay full market value for old car stuff. It isn't worth more than 4k anywhere,though...considering all the repairs needed.

    What was his counter?

He's the seller-he should place a price on the item.
You're the buyer-you agree to the price, make a counter offer, or walk.

If you're buying and he is selling, you should never make an initial offer. You should be making a counter offer to his initial (usually highball) asking price.
Most times when someone won't state an up front selling price they're blowing smoke and really don't want to sell the item-unless you open with a rediculous offer.

Just based on what I see on craigslist and swap meets, up here in the NW I'd say that is at least a $3,000 car.

The coupe has a '30 grille shell but the car is a '31. The '30 had 2 piece splash aprons between the front and rear fenders. This one has 1 piece splash aprons. A seam would be visible on the splash aprons on a 1930 that would line up vertically with the front of the doors. This one does not have that seam. I too would put this in the $2500-$3000 range as it looks to be a fairly complete car. Is there a ***le?

in okla if it sits on your property for 60 days or more the state will give you a ***le---on that thread about the 36 chevy coupe with the pickup bed in the trunk the gas rationing laws were posted and the idea of conversion for more stamps was debunked ---as for who prices the car, if it was found in a field the finder will have to open negotiations most of the time and saying is that car for sale will usually get you a no---the days of 10 dollar cars is over ---offer what you are willing to pay and be prepared to move on...

Just curious, but what is the difference between a 30 and a 31 grill shell?

You may be right or it could have been late construction.

1930 grill shell,,is smooth across the face of the shell and the bottom insert is painted.

1931 grill shell has a painted insert at the top face of the shells and the bottom insert is match to match.

On a final note,,,all model A coupes are are 5 windows. HRP
