I see no evidence of my coupe ever having a radio in the dash, but the hole sure is there for the antenna. It had a patch covering it over I found it when I had the body blasted. Thanks for all the quick replies gentlemen
Cars from the factory with radio had the hole in the roof. Cars which had radios installed at the dealer had the hole made at the dealer. Many aftermarket installs used an antenna which mounted on the cowl in front of the door.
Dunno, but my tudor is a standard and it had the hole/antenna with no radio in the car when I got it. Maybe the radio was removed before I bought it?
Maybe they had a factory plug for the hole if a radio was not installed..My binder had a hole punched for a p***enger side wiper which was never installed...had a plug in hole from day 1
I have owned 2 - 40 Ford sedans,3 - 40 coupes and a 39 standard. 2 of the coupes had the antennas intact and only one had a radio. HRP
If I remember correctly, the '39 had an antenna mounted on the roof that would flip down with a knob on the inside, because the windshield would crank out. Maybe that was only on the convertible.
