1940 IH p/u Steering Column

    Need some quick info, have front clip, doors, floor and gl*** out of my ih, ready to pull cab, i cant seem to get column disconnected from the box, i loosened clamp and i ***umed the shaft slid up and out, cant get it to budge, want to make sure there isnt a set screw or pin before i get rammy.. frustrated, so figured i would ask here before I broke out the SawZall..lol.. any info appreciated.

    The shaft is welded to the gear and does not come apart. you will have to take it off the frame.

    Are you going to use that steering box ? I'm building a 1936 international and looking for steering box.

    Thanks for the info James, no wonder i couldnt get it apart..lol, as of now i am planning on reusing it.. i will know for sure within about 2 months. wherebouts in Iowa are you located??

    If you ever decide to part the steering out, I'd like to buy the upper 12"-18" of the steering column shaft. I want to cut my shaft and graft the IH shaft to it for my project.
