Just want to introduce myself. have a 29 Tudor sedan that I'm currently building from the ground up into a chopped and channeled rat and looking for all sorts of advice and connections for parts. I have built cars in the past (61' Lincoln, 58 Fury and a 34 ford) but this will be my first rat rod. I am building this with my two sons and daughter and and on a tight budget....who inst huh? I will be posting when I need any info or looking for parts. I am currently looking for some doors and a complete end panel. I'm going to hit the Portland swap meet and see what I can find then I will start asking on here for stuff. Thanks! Chad
Well its not going to be a rat rod its going to be more of a nostalgia 50's style hot rod. its not going to be a pieced together Frankenstein. I'm sticking with Henry Ford Steel all the way around. going to chop and channel it but its going to be clean and not a pieced together monstrosity.
The term rat rod has some bad connotations around here and we don't use it. But that being said, it sounds like you may be building a traditional hot rod. If so, then welcome!
Good luck with that nostalgia rod and welcome from the coast of SC lots of good help here on the HAMB just DON'T USE RAT or as you can see you will catch a lot of bad responses
Sorry for the term "RAT" I will no longer use that connotation. I grew up in Huntington beach CA and that term was used for anything that wasn't stock. Thanks for the welcomes!
welcome, im new also, and i lived in pdx for 7 years. whatever you call your car, i think its more important that your doing something with it rather then crushing it
Get ready to defend yourself because of your name too. People ***ociate rat rods with unsafe, rusty, falling apart ****. I had the same definition as you did, but Traditional.Racer just doesn't have the same ring to it...
I don't think "Rose City" and "Rat" really go together. As a displaced Oregonian, it just doesn't sound right. You might want to change your screen name to avoid being p***ed over. But Hey, Welcome, teach your son's well. Mine surp***ed me in knowledge and build skill long ago.
