Awesome pics dude, thanks! I was at Ducktail this evening and will be back out there tomorrow. (Car-less, because my '48 Ford is getting it's flathead rebuilt.) You can find me around the two white tents between the baseball field and the petting zoo. My brother is in his purple '50 Chevy and my parents have their '57 Chevy. And I forgot my damn digital camera!
Great pictures, looks like a good time. Does anyone know what the finish is on the bumper of that big green merc with the dark green scallops and the pinstriping? I can't remember who's car that is, I know it's been featured in some mag's before. I like the finish, is it just paint??
that's not a merc... it's a 54 Chevy. It's owned/built by Larry Grobe from one of the Chicago suburbs. A lot of Larry's stuff gets featured in Ol Skool Rodz. I don't know what kind, but the bumper is painted
Nice pics...I've been so overly consumed and preoccupied with work and school I haven't been on here much. It's nice to see some good pics of fun times. Thanks for sharing.
Doh! Now that I look at it again, yup it's a chevy, He's got some serious body work, or maybe it just the scallops that make it look like there is some side treatments to the car.
He used rattle can grey primer to paint the base of the bumper, then he used a can of metaillic and misted it over top and then some rattle can clear.
nope... serious body work. I don't know all that went into it, but I know it has 56 Lincoln fenders and Packard tailights. There was a big write up on it in OSR last year, or early this year
Thanks guys, and sorry to hijack your thread Ron. Larry's got one cool car and is one talented guy! I think I'm going to be stealing his bumper/grill paint job for my chevy!
