Well, last night I got the old box out and the new one snaked in. Had to drop the wishbone, drop the exhaust and it BARLEY wiggled in. Looks like the only modifying I'll have to do is dimple one header pipe and do away with the foot pedal starter (will no longer be able to bolt to the bottom of the steering box). Little more time screwing around, then want to test fit the column tube one last time, paint it and ****on it up for good

Chris...my new Bob Drake rubber upper bushing is for 32-48 ford car and 32-47 pickup [part number B-3517-N] is .75 inside and real close to 1.415" outside but the outside is serated to squeeze down a bit inside a smaller tube.
Good lookin column. I'm looking for a earlier bell for my 40 column so I can use my 39 wheel on it. Looks like you made yours?
EDIT...re-read text to see answer to my question....nice roaster!

It's looking really damn good Chris. All the small details that get it dialed in.

The rearview mirror is still one of my favourite details.

I like that mirror, too. I put a new windshield frame on it, gotta drill a hole to mount it yet.

I got another small hurtle done last night. On 1932-1936 Fords, the starter solenoid attaches to the top of the steering box. With this new Gemmer box there is no place to attach the switch. I was going to convert it to a modern solenoid with a push ****on start, but Nealinca gave me this brilliant idea to make a mounting flange that is attached to the steering column clamp, which places it exactly where it needs to go. I liked this idea, as I just had the starter pedal chromed :D

Looks great Chris. What size tires are you running? What did you use for primer? Very sweet car!

Thanks, the tires are 5.50 16's and 7.00 16's. the primer is PPG DP 60 (I think that's the number, but it is a DP series primer)

Also, if anyone has a nice origianl 33-34 gas tank cover for sale, I would be interetsed. Mine is an early aftermarket, and the fit is horrible all over
