So I put a 302 in the shoebox got on it hard and broke the rear yoke. I can find another but any other other option that would be a stronger option

I've got a '66 Mustang 8" on hand for my '51 if I ever break the stock rear. It'll almost be a bolt-in, except for welding up and redrilling the spring bolt locations (1/2" per side). If you're lucky, you can find decent ratios, like the 3:80 I have, (to match my '51s 3:78) in mid '60s 8 inchers. :)

I think that Maverick 5 slug 8" rear end is the most common rear end swap on shoeboxes.
The widthness is correct for the shoeboxes,no idea about 9" rears that are enought narrow for the shoebox Fords..

I put a Maverick 8" in mine in one weekend.........the hardest part was finding the 3.00 gear ratio, I run a C-4 with my "warmed over" flatty

  6. 57-59 Ford 9" are the correct width. Good luck finding one.

'75-'79 Ford Granada's came with both 8" and 9" rears that are about the same width as the '57-'59 rears. I think they measure right around 57 1/2"
