kinda confused, BBC question

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by turboroadster, Mar 21, 2013.

  1. This is for my 62 comet project.
I have a 502, it came with a flexplate for an auto. I want to run a muncie 4 speed but if I get a flywheel, wont that throw the balance off since it came with a light flexplate?
recommendations on flywheel and clutch and pressure plate I should get?
thanks in advance, I know a 502 isnt very traditional, but what I am going to do with it is.:D

the automatics use the weight of the torque converter to balance the engine. it is a simple swap. Use a diaphragm pressure plate for best driving results

You will need a ext. balanced flywheel.

The difference would be internally all other 4 6 and 8cyl, or externally (400 small block 454-502)

I would use the Centerforce Dual Friction clutch. I had a McCleoud street/strip and it was a pain sitting in traffic.

Yea, makes for a muscular left leg. I had to go automatic because a Ram setup screwed up my back..:(
