And, somebody must have a picture of the ultimate surf woodie, The Surf Woodie. Still exists, was in Houston, but haven't talked to the owner in a number of years.

  4. I talked to a guy who owned the Olds g***er styled woodie a few years ago. I think he live in Saticy, CA or Somis. Anyway he said the car was in very sad shape. He said the hard shifts from the hydro ****** really did a number on the wood structure.

Hey Kev, Ted Radoumis mentioned that Paul Soliz was helping get an Olds g***er woodie (can't think of another, can you?) ready for this years Roadster Show. Guess they didn't make it. Jeff Courties' was a '47 or close. Can't wait to see it.
I always hoped to arrange a match race with the '47 Ford I owned. Whoever built it, put in a 365 horse 327 with fenderwell exit headers, 4 speed, and ladder bars. What a fun car that was. Best name was Barnwoodie, for obvious reasons. Drove it everywhere, even to the beach. Moonlight thru the roof slats, while rowing a 4 speed, with the front tires dancing, great fun. The cars soul kept the wood together, but it did creak from time to time. Guess that is why Doug and Suzie Carr suggest a metal framework. The conversation starter a "woodie" provides can not be matched. Sold it to build a Willys woodie. Still collecting parts for that one.

Believe it or not, I think there are two. I remember seeing a pic of a '47 or so nose-high g***er style wagon, on Cragars, but obviously built for the street.
