Does anyone have any pictures of a chopped Model AA hiboy? I like the ride height of the AA without channeling and the look of the exposed frame without running boards, but I heard that chopping a hiboy truck may look weird? What do you think?
I.m thinking about useing a AA frame for a 28 rpu but just the frame. They have a 6 inch height just like a 32. But it will get more or less standard running gear & cut to hell
Do you know of any pictures? I was planning on reusing the AA frame, getting rid of the running boards, or what's left of them (not much), and possibly chopping the top a couple of inches, then adding a wood bed...
I do have to redo the subrails because the floor is rotted out so that may be an option, I just don't want to drop it too much because I'm 6'2 and I don't want to have to channel the middle of the cab for the transmission. I want as much leg room as possible.
I'm going to use the frame, and cab and that's pretty much it, unless I can salvage any of the steering or the front axle, but I don't really know what it looks like right now, it's 500 miles away in the middle of the woods under 3' of snow...
If you are 6'2" I can ***ure you that you don't need to chop the top.the model A pickups are small and leg room is a premium,,at your size cutting the top requires yo to lower the seating position and as your **** moves your legs gotta go somewhere and just makes you have to fold up even more. If your in your twenty's it's no big deal but as you get a little older and plan on any long hauls it get's real uncomfortable. Pictures,I don't have any but the cab is no different than a normal Model A pickup. HRP
Yeah!!! I see it homie!!!! **** Yeah, you're gonna do it? This is how: - 2" 3" at most chop, a subtle chop is very nice. - Move the front crossmember back about several inches & mount the perches in the split wishbones & notch the front frame horns & have your axle dropped. - raise the spring mounts on the frame to lower the rear or make quarter or ???? . . . . - MAYBE pop for a NEW $1500 stock Reg A bed with wood & tailgate& go with a stock 103" wheelbase? - Everything else all stock Model AA except with a downdraft 94 carb & intake/header & find like a modern 75 series 20 inch as skinny as you could find maybe 235 tire for the rear. - **** it, paint everything all GLOSS BLACK!!!! you could even get away with cans, my coupes grille, frame wheels & suspension is can.
Very true. On a truck you can't move the seat back into the back seat foot area.... I p***ed on an awesome '47 GMC because my knees where in my chest, and there was no room to get any more area.
Thanks for the advice! I'll have to keep looking. I am in my twenties, but I realize I won't be forever...
Thanks for your advice, a lot of great ideas, once I translate them all I'll let you know what I think haha...I had also thought about putting a cast iron tub in the back for the bed...but it was just a thought, don't want to have the scarlet R placed on me.
Once I get in it and feel it out I can make the determination. That's why I like the hiboy, I don't want to have to crawl into my truck, my back won't like that too much...

By stock do you mean mechanical drum brakes in the front end then disc in the back? What's the traditional way of doing brakes on a traditional rod?
Thanks for the links. I wouldn't say it looks weird, but just chopped a little more than I would want with a bigger engine than I would want. I guess I'll take it one step at a time and see what happens.
This is what I'm talking about...Is this considered a hiboy and chopped? Definitely the look I'm going for.
Thats deffinately doable. That looks like a regular A frame not AA frame. I say run with your.rails & just use the suspention & parts dudes have been useing for 75 years on A & 32 frames
