Man, that hand looks painful - I did it to my knee about a year ago. Hurt like a sonofabitch.

The car looks awesome! Did I see some of your work in Fuel magazine?

Hahaha to my surprise it hasn't been to bad. Even when the grinder bit me, it wasn't that bad. Shock and adrenaline I guess. Not happy about it though!!

Yep, probably! I contribute to the magazine on and off. Luke is an amazing person and doing something very unique For the Australian car scene!

  7. One place that has grille teeth (new) -- Chevs of the 40s.

I had a 53 Belair hardtop back in the 1960s.....put on 54 Chev
headlight rings and 54 tail lights. As I recall, they just bolted
right on, no big deal. I also used 54 emblem on the trunk, and
maybe the hood (it's been a long time).....they were a little more
bother as a totally different size and shape from original.

Your car looks great.....glad it was in generally good condition.

Nice car now I see why cars get damaged in containers.

I lost one of mine the beginning of Jan that was going to the Mediterranean.

Chevy of the 40's it your best bet, oddly enough with some down time on the computer searching for NOS 53 Chevy will find you lots of new things. I know I found stupid things I'd never expect for my 47, some even a lot less than repopped. I had a similar problem with bumper brackets myself, something was tweaked. Take care of that hand...yikes.

Those Fentons look great, 'coop'. You really cut to the chase with that flapper disc!
The Olds caps are also killer. (I missed out on a set, or the "Joy Ride" would be wearin' them, too!)

fatty mcguire, Oh You mean THAT chopped '53 Ford (Clarkaiser)! Love it! Will it be staying black?

Bit of A photo update of the chev.

Over the weekend I cleaned up the rear drums, new pads, drums machined. Now just waiting on the rims to come back from the power coaters.

I hope to have fixed the front bar issue, brackets should be back from the coaters this week and then that's sorted!

Whilst the rear wheels were off and off the ground, I had a good asssment of the under carriage. Alot of the sound deadner/rust proofing is starting to peel and flake off, so I cleaned up both rear inner wheel wells and the exposed chassis rails.

The rust spot you see is along the right hand sills. Each bracket is rusted or already repaired. The next job while the car is still up off the ground is to repair, clean all flaking sound deadening and re-spray new rust proofing.

Little update. In between photo work, my day job and my skill level I have finally secured the front bar properly-it was welded to one side of the chassis.
A few little mods, a decent hit with a 80grit flapper disc and some powdercoat, she has come up pretty good.
After speaking with the custom gods I have removed the over riders to accentuate the width of the car. Having a 3 piece bar is not ideal but it gives a clear idea of how it will look in future.

Afternoon Hambers, finally an update on my chev.

Brakes: after replacing the shoes, machining the drums and replacing some hoses, surprisingly haha the brakes just didn't work after the cat sat for quite some time. Master cylinder re-build and new wheel cylinders all round-waiting on parts to arrive from Chevys of the 40s. Fingers and toes crossed the pitting I found in the master cylinder was the cause of the issue.

Whilst I was waiting to get the piggy bank up, I decided to clean up the rear bumper and brackets like the front.....all well and good until I removed the splash apron....CANCER.

As you can see from the photos, there are two very decent size holes either side of the boot(also found a mouse....quarantine my ass) these holes were very very poorly patched. Better safe than sorry, I've stripped the boot back to bare skin in the hunt for more rust. Thankfully I have only blew a few patches of surface rust.

    BEFORE THE EXTRA TEETH.

I scored 6 teeth from a friend in another state. 3 are fairly damaged but should e repairable. The other three are brand new, but need to be chromed, the other issue is one of the new teeth(4th on the left) is a center tooth. If anyone hears of 53 Chebby teeth can you please let me know!

What a coincidence. I've sure been wondering how you're getting along!

Any new engine mods? (I forget, is this a Powerglide car? )

Might the center tooth look any better on the end? And have you tried spacing for seven teeth? Fatty McGuire's Chebby (post #61) has 7, and looks great! It might expose some bolt holes on the bar, but any additional holes necessary would certainly be covered when going back to 9 teeth.

Mo! Great to hear from you mate!

No engine mods yet. After I sort these body issues and suspension, I'll start putting some dollars away for a dual intake + carbs.

That's an awesome idea, definitely going to move it outwards and see how it looks. I just had a guy message me, he has some teeth!

7!! It would fit but bloody tight fit! I'm liking the 6 with tiny spacing between.

Oh and no power glide. 3spd manual. Have been talking with a few guys about 4 and 5 speed boxes. Again, something to save towards!

Haha thanks matty. The rust in the boot is my only real concern with getting it there. Still pushing forward!

Has it been packed yet? Fingers crossed man!
Haha after such smooth sailing with my importer that was just the icing on the cake. Just pisses me off that they simple don't give two fucks!
