I realize this is not the tech format. Somehow I am blocked from there. Getting right to the point I have a 1960 Cadillac engine I want to install in my highboy. I want to use a Chevrolet manual transmission. Does anyone know of an OEM flywheel that fits the Caddy crank? Does any other GM (Olds, Pontiac or ?) fit the Cadillac bell housing bolt pattern? I appreciate any who take the time to ***ist in this. I realize that Bendtsen's offers an adapter for about $600. My old mind seems to have a faint memory of being to use a BOP bell housing on the Caddy. Thanks!

I think the early olds stick flywheel will work on a caddy motor, olds went to a external balance in 57 and I am not sure if caddy did too and I do not know what bellhousing that will work. Jeff

I know that the '68 and up BOP bellhousing will work on '68 and up Caddy. Do any HAMBers in your area have an early BOP bellhousing they could let you borrow and try it?

http://www.wilcap.com/ or you can look for NOS parts on ebay.

'49-'54 cadillac can use '49-'64 Oldsmobile parts, which are hard to find AND expensive.
'55-'62 Cadillac has a completely DIFFERENT bellhousing bolt pattern.BOP will not work.
either way you're looking at a lot of money.unless you luck out on ebay.

keep in mind that engine was used over a long period of time ('49 on?) and had stick shift use in personal and commerical ch***is applications.

I knew someone that modified the stock '55-'56 cast iron detatchable hydro bell for standard shift use. It had enough meat and surface area to be redrilled, and a slot for the throwout fork was cut in the driver's side of it.

Hi,I make a cast aluminum bellhousing adapter to go behind your engine that takes a '55 up Chevy manual 3,4 or 5 speed trans.I also make steel flywheels for same. However I'm in New Zealand till April 20th,but would be glad to help when I get back Stateside.Squeak Bell,Bell Auto Parts,Bakersfield,CA.

I had my steel chevrolet flywheel cut down at a tool shop allowing use of caddy ring gear and redrilled Caddy crank for it and pilot bearing. Allowing me to use stock Caddy starter.Mine was a 500 Caddy motor. Hope that helps.
