I have been reading lots of different ways to drop my truck. Seems everyone does it a different way with mixed results. Does anyone know if there is a complete kit to drop the front and back about 3 inches. Im wanting to replace all my bushings and convert to disc breaks while I have the suspension apart. Can anyone recommend a good kit for that as well? Im wanting to stay stock and not go IFS. I was hoping someone could speak from personal experience from the kit they used and how the ride is. I guess I can add a sway bar as well to help wigh stability from what I wad resding. Im not opposed to C notching but didn't plan on it.
Simplest is a avle flip in the rear [axle over spring], and a dropped axle in the front. You can add reversed eye springs for more drop. I dont know of a kit, but uou can buy the components. Do a search here as there is a lot of info .
easy rear drop is to flip the front spring hanger cheapest way to do front is a hard one depending on how low you want to go disc brake kitt? check speedway if you don't want to go IFS
How's the ride with flipping axles and such. I don't necessarily want to go cheap, I want to do it right without sacrificing ride comfort. I thought cpp sold a kit or something. The leafs look worn out as this was a fstm truck so im going t buy new ones.
Flipping the rear axle gives much more than a 3" drop but rides just like stock unless you are hitting bump stops or something. If you are trying to only get 3", dropped axle in front and maybe new posies springs for the rear. Or, you can get that with just pulling a couple leaves and longer shackles in the rear. Call Sid Drapal (55 Mercury here on the HAMB) at 405-416-3080 and he can get you all the specifics on what might work best. I lowered a 60 with a 3" dropped axle and reversing the spring eyes in the front and moving the spring hangers, losing a couple leaves, and reversing the eyes on the rear. I got more like 5" drop all around. Overall ride was probably a little better than stock since the springs were a little softer minus a couple leaves.
Thanks for all the info, right now im taking notes and coming up with a good game plan. The very first thing will be replacing all bushings and dropping it some along with disc brake conversion.
