I got home for a couple days off due to the rains Rita is bringing. Yesterday morning we started at the edge of a small town. As I waited to get loaded, I had to go check out one 30-31 4 door body that sat up about 6 feet on a pipe rack. Pretty rusty and full of bullit holes. I walked behind the old building and the remains of a 30-31 pickup, the roof section from another 4 door, lots of junk. I also saw a couple 16" Ford wheels with 6.00x16 tires and still had the original dual pinstripe. The roof was off the old shop and I really want to see inside but nosing around can get you run off so I didn't. I have seen lots of old tractors, 2 Olivers on steel (yes, the highly coveted Oliver grills) and a couple Farmalls by one house.
Ok billy, where are these olivers,I have gotten way deep into this old farm machine stuff,Did you happen to notice if they were oliver "70's" or oliver "60's"?I would be interested in them,Go buy them, mark them up & sell them to me or I will trade you somthing rusty for them!!
I want to say they were along Hwy 49 somewhere around Wiggins. But it might have been off on a side road like 11 or 13. I would say they were the smaller tractors, hence 60s. Setting along a long driveway in a display kind of fashion and probably repainted (restored) some years back. Also a dipitated but complete W-9 on rubber behind the shed. Also closer to home, just out north of Quitman there was 3 small Farmalls, 2 on steel, with 4 sale signs. Not restored. I would say they were C models. Also I saw another, maybe an H or M out between Emory and Millers Grove. And while out there you will also p*** 2 rampsides for sale. (Corvair pickups) The house right next to our dumpsite (back in Miss. now) has a Fergeson and I have seen a couple old sheds colapsed on old tractors, 40-50s stuff I suppose. And I also saw a 65 Mustang fastback a****st a bunch of fallen trees. That is just from my first 2 days.
