Does any one know if issue #1 was ever repoped? Maybe a 50th anniversary type deal or something? I may have come across the real thing but I don't know. Thanks, -stick

The 50th anniversary issue of Hot Rod came with a reprint of the first issue. Like kustomkoupe said, hope you found an original! Ed
They did repop the first edition. I would guess you could tell the difference from an original because the paper has got to be different. I have several around here somewhere... (No I don't want to sell them, because I don't want to try and find the "safe place" I put them...) Then they came out with a book with the first year repopped in it.. It's even got all the commercials reprinted 12 times! Then there's Best of Hotrod, Best of R & C, yadda yadda... and they've been doing those periodically for the past half century every five or ten years or so.
If I remember correctly, somewhere on the lower corner of one of the back pages is the year the repopped issue was published (maybe 2003?)
Hi . The easiest way to tell if you have an Original Vol1 No1 is to look at the Cover The text that says : vol1 no1 price 25c ... a.s.o . between the two black lines bellow the "Hot Rod Magazine logo" should be black letters/# on white background. If not , then you have a repro .
i subscribed to hotrod during the whole 50th anniversary year. i never received a repop of the first issue. i'm going looking for the damn mailman.
I subscribed then too. The 50th anniv reprint was only available with the newstand issue. That reprint is smaller than the originals or the older reprints.
