Does anyone have info on 29 Dodge Victoria's,how many were made, where you could find parts, etc. Has anyone ever Hot Rodded one,if so any pic's.Thanks HRB
Victorias? Dodge made a Victory 6 from 1928 to mid 1929- do you have any pics? If it's a Victory, the car went through many changes in the 18+ months it was built and some body parts don't interchange between years (things like a long hood/short cowl to short hood/long cowl, etc). They are a harder car to find- since the body was all steel (by Budd) and fit down over the frame, the frame was made of a lighter gauge metal... which didn't survive accidents very well. Plus points- they have really nice lines, the engine has 7 main bearings, the head chambers are matched from the factory. What body style do you have? I've seen some hot rodded, but it's not an easy job.
Just looked in a Dodge book: In 28, it was called a 5 p***enger coupe. It was on the Victory Six ch***is. The 28's were very different than 29 Dodges. The 29 was on a model DA ch***is. They had 2 "vicky" shaped bodies in 29 on the DA; one is called a Victoria Four P***enger. Strange that the book shows a 5 p***enger Brougham that looks 100% the same, and this book says it shared the same body shell as the Victoria. I have no idea why one is 4 p*** and one is 5..because the body looks the same size. Do a google image search for 1929 Dodge..brougham as well as victoria
The four p***enger has a "package shelf" next to the rear seat, so only two would fit across the back (and it's tight back there). If I remember correctly, that makes it the " Deluxe Coupe' "- ours is an early 28.
The guy that has it referred to it as a "29 Dodge Victoria Coupe" it looked like a two door sedan to me.It did have a package tray in the rear but he took it out.It also had a trunk and spare tire on the rear .I'll try to get some pic's to post.
The DA , built part of '29 and part of '30, is a seperate car from what this sounds like. A four p***enger coupe has a folding jump seat for the front p***enger, and 3/4 rear seat like Mac said. The broughm is the same body but with real seats for five. Probably the most beautiful body style of the early DBs in my opinion. Low roof, Victoria style rear bustle, rear fenders stick way beyond the rear of the cab. They look like a hotrod from factory.
The back seat on the Victoria did not go all the way across. It had a large storage area next to the window. Thus it only seated 4. I know because I have one. Tom
Picking up a 28 Victory Six body. Been looking online and haven't been able to find much info. I'm looking for ch***is specs and pics. Hoping you guys can help. Any info would be much appreciated.
The Victory 6 was only in production for about 18 months, with LOTS of changes over that time (long hood/short cowl to long cowl/short hood, for one). The '28 does NOT share many/any parts with the Dodges built that year (Budd built the Victory 6 bodies). The DB club has good info on them, but they are not very hot rod friendly. If your body has a tag, that will help. I have some parts back in Philadelphia, PA that I'll be getting in May/June- let me know what you're looking for, and I can try to help! Also, what body type are you getting- 5 window coupe, sedan, Coupe Brougham, etc?
Thanks for the info, Mac. And for the pics, Choff. I'm picking up the car this Friday, so I'll try and have some pics up this weekend. I'm hoping the tag is still there. From looking at the car and reading the above info, it seems to me like it might be the long hood/short cowl version. But we'll see. The car is pretty complete minus the ch***is and drivetrain (which I wouldn't have used anyway), but let me know what parts you have. I was hoping there would be someone on here who's rodded one of these before so I could get some ideas (especially on ch***is fab). I've only been able to find one online, which was set up for airbaigs. I'm trying to go a more traditional route with this thing. Again, any additional info would be great. Thanks.
Three year old thread that a Ford guy finds, hoping to see a Victoria, NO PHOTOS. So I go over and get my copy of The Dodge Story and copy this one from page 79 in the 1931 year coverage. It's no secret I like victorias, no matter who built them. Bob
I'm gathering parts for a 28 too, I will be running a 331 topped with some idf webers backed buy a t5. If you run across a p*** side door, let me know. Parts are tuff on these. I had a door lined up about a month ago, then the ***hole sold it out from under me. Mine is a long hood/ short cowl version.
The one on bags. Was it a sedan in Reno? If so that's the rat roding ***hat that screwed me on the door
Hello- I know this is somewhat of an older thread but I am hoping that someone can give me some direction or advice. My good friend (who is not very computer savvy) has a 1929 Dodge DA Victoria that is fully restored and they are looking to sell it. From my research, I gather that this is a pretty rare vehicle. Because of this, I am trying to get some advice on asking price and if there would be any interest? What is the best marketing strategy? Is an online auction advisable? Any information that anyone can provide would be much appreciated. I can provide pictures and they have full do***entation and pictures of the restoration. Thank you!
Go here and ask. There will be some folks there to help. Just be aware that they are not rodders, so.....the more you talk restoration, the better. John (I can also help out a bit. keiser31@charter.net) http://forums.aaca.org/f143/
