Can anyone recommend a good, quality tubing bender? What do you guys use that works for ya? (I have a cheap old hand held deal that looks like a teardrop-shaped piece of metal with a pulley-like thing on one end. You hook the tubing in it and bend...only it'll usually kink steel tubing...only works well on aluminum!) With LOTS of tubing needed to plumb brake, fuel and ****** lines on my 49 soon, I was wanting to put a tubing bender on my Christmas list! What semi-low buck ones do the job effectively in your experiences? (Brand name, model, etc???) Thanks!
I use the Ridgid brand benders, they are not cheap $25.00? each and they only bend one size each so you need to buy one for every size tube youre bending. Paul
a company called "imperial eastman"(or maybe thats the brand),carries everything you might need tubing wise. try a google search
60's right...ridgid is the way to go,a little expensive, but if you ever use one you will NEVER use a different one. i stepped up and bought new 3/16" , 1/4" and 3/8" ,but they will last me the rest of my life. not to use a four-letter word, but used ones are on ebay all the time
[ QUOTE ] Is Ridgid a Home Depot brand? [/ QUOTE ] no.. it's a brand a lot of profesional plumbers use.. they make every kind of plumbing tool there is. to be honest though, sometime my little no-name-black-three-size-fits-all job works just as good Paul
Whooooaaaa!! You mean you don't remember the RIDGID TOOL girls?? On their Calendars? We always said, that was why they were CALLED that, cuz when ya saw them your..........well anyway... Here's the (undiscovered?) Raquel Welch:
Home depot in my neck of the woods carries rigid tools. As for bending. the current HORSE magazine has a little tech article on using hardline. Garth
Robinair mdl# 14528 A nice bender that does 3/16-3/8. Clamp the 10" base handle in a vise and bend up some professional looking lines. It's even got 45 and 90 deg. markings. I got mine from one of the tool truck guys. You could also try an A/C supply house.
