Hey Chili - Last I heard, we're bringing the 7-11 coupe down to try and get a match with the 15oz. But I've been too busy to talk with Mike for the last few weeks...The 7-11 tested a couple weeks ago at our local track and had tuning problems - nothing major, though. Hope it works out, as it sounds like a fun weekend, with all the social events going on. It's been too long since I had any of Denises cookies! Every year since the Reunion began, I've made plans to go and then something happened each time, so I STILL haven't been to one! Maybe this'll be my lucky year...If I DO get there, I hope I can escape the pit long enough to jangle with all the HAMBers there. Wish me luck.....

Well, you waited just about 3 months too long to talk to Mike. He p***ed away in June. God Damn how I miss him.(eyes full of tears here) We are planning to bring the Coupe out even if it's not ready to run. We Vipers are going to lift a gl*** or two in his honor on Saturady at 10 am. I sure hope you'll join us. Don't miss the Reunion, my friend, Mike never planned to miss this. You just never know. The finish line comes up so damn suddenly.

Get that car and yourself down here. Life is uncertain.

I'm sitting here crying. This has been a terrible year for my bunch.

RIP, Mike Demaerst, John "The Colonel" Hogan, Brother Bill Condit…

Oosp! I didn't mean it that way - I was refering to Mike DOWELL, owner of the 7-11. He broke the news to me when Mike Demerest p***ed away earlier this summer. Our condolences to you, the Vipers, and all the 15oz fans everywhere...And my apologies for the screw-up here.....

It's not a screw up, my friend. I was missing those guys already as we get ready for the CHRR. I sure hope you'll be able to make the trip down here. I really want to see the 7-11 Coupe. And meet you and the crew. It will be an honor and our pleasure to have you with us as we remember Mike and tip a few. Please join us if you can.

  10. I'd been planning all year to go, but now it looks like I won't be able to make it. The friends I was going to head down with all backed out, and I'm damn near broke right now trying to buy a new car.:(

Thanks, Phil. We'll do our best to get there and help pay tribute to Mike Demerest. The 7-11 is no threat to the 15oz, but we can't resist the chance to at least stage next to you guys - we've all been huge 15oz fans for many years. Just one thing - if I'm driving, you'll want to get the 15oz off the line and downtrack as soon as possible - we never know which way the 7-11 is going to go, and I'm always the last to find out.....

No problem. The Coupe is not close to ready. Jeff Utterback has very graciously stepped up to weld the remaining tabs and mounts at Hansen Ch***is and the Bad Actor Donovin is getting freshened up by Bill Schultz. So, if we can bring it we'll be showing just the body and frame. The plan is to make the March Meet. Gary Read will drive it then. He was one of the last guys to pilot it in 1965. I sure don't have to tell you how tough it is to get one on the drag strip, huh?

    See you there.

Whew! Now that all the pressure's off, I'll be sure to be there! At least I never miss March Meet - looks like I'll start looking forward to that earlier than usual this time...That's way cool about Gary Read driving! Good luck with the Donovan (man, what a bunch of goldchainers - we run a production cast iron sbc)...And sorry to have hijacked this thread - I'll back off now...

  18. Oi a Hersham boy! See you there, I'll be wandering around with a friend from Bradford making his first trip to the CHRR. My wifes Grandparents & her dad are from Hersham, hell the cricket pavilion ( or more like blockhouse now) is named after her grandad...Wifey is from Walton on Thames.. see ya there!

Brad: Did'nt really replace the Caddy, added a 52 Chevy coupe before the Caddy went away (man I miss that 429!), still have the Hudson as yard art and now have a 67 Dodge D200 truck I'm tarting up hopefully 60's push truck style...Where are you staying? We are at the Red Lion right next to the event HQ at the Double Tree, you going to Squeeks? My cell number is 831-224-0061 give me a ring if you need a lift we can probably work it out..Ted

    Hey Chili,

I'll be there Friday and Saturday shooting video for an event DVD. Did the Viva Las Vegas DVD. Love to get some shots of the Vipers and others while I'm there.

We're bringing Big John Mazmanian's Willys for the Cacklefest and and then dropping it in San Francisco on Sunday for a Rodders Journal shoot or I'd stay until the last run.

Will you be there on Friday? See you at the Doubletree for the parking lot fun.

I just finished 2 gallons of the Hydrazine Flash Chili. Come get a bowl Saturday afternoon.

Memorial toast to Mike "Groundshakers" Demarest at 10 AM Saturday. ****** Caligula will be featured.

I won't get to Bako until Friday evening. See you at the DoubleRed TreeLion. Our pal Davy Uyehara is being inducted this year. See some of you there.
