Well I fell like a damn school girl. Today I finally got to see my sedan body on the frame for the first time, I'm SO excited! I don't think I've smiled so much in a long time. I had a picture in my mind of what it would look like all along, but once I saw it for real it was better then I imagined, and I'm real happy with the proportions.

The roof cross supports are temporary, and tacked in. I'll bend up some to match the roof contours soon.

The only thing I REALLY wasted my time on is the rear door jams. I made the doors fully adjustable, replaced ALL the wood subframe with steel, and the rear doors open 2". So goes life. I'm over it

Tomorrow I will fab up body mounts and get the thing mounted to the frame. I could only get pics of it tonight with the bags all the way aired out-the roof is 40" off the ground, it looks like a cartoon. I'm gonna wheel it outside tomorrow and get pics at ride height as well. Heres a few for now

Thanks man. No, its a two seater. Though I would seat more than two if Carmen Electra was one of the and she had to sit on my lap:D
Once I post pics of the frame inside the body you'll see why. To get it to lay out on the tall 7.50/16 rears, the rear kick-up is 19" tall. The back of the seats will be against the rear kick up inside, so its a two-seater for sure

Quite feel like a schoolgirl myself if you've got one going spare ?

Thats peachy mate , nice work ! When the bags have air how much clearance will you have under the body ? Take it you've only bagged the rear ? Is there a link to any stuff you've done earlier in the build ?

    Keep it up :D

Hehe. Actually the front and rear are bagged. I'm real pleased with the front bag set-up, as the front bags are nearly invisible. I modified a Cen-Pen front air crossmember. They are supposed to be spring over axle, but I modified it to work suicide cuz it wouldn't lay out with the lift arms over the axle. Heres a couple bare chassis pics, The pic of the front bags shows them at max lift, at ride height the are and inch shorter. And since that pic was taken I installed the shocks and headlights, they hide the bag really nicely, the last pic shows the front at ride height, and the bag is my dirty:D little secret

Oh that is just too neat Dodge ! Any pics from the front ?

Being a dumbass , please excuse some dumbass questions ! Are the bags on the front actually being used for springing as well as the leaf , or are they just there to give you ride height adjustment ? Is the leaf located on a centre mount as per normal ?

And go on , tell us what the bags are from , I won't tell anyone honest !!

  25. you f'n rule.. the car looks absolutely sick..

Thanks for all your support guys! The bags replace the job of the leaf spring entirely, and provide the ride height adjustment as well. Where the spring would normally be located, is replaced by two swing arms that pivot from bolts in the center of the crossmember. Each swing arm goes from the center towards the outside, and connects to the wishbone with shackles.

The bag itself mounts to the underside of the crossmember, and then to the swing arm. As the bag is inflated, it lifts the swing arm, which in turn raises the ride height. I can get some detailed pics that will clear it up better then I can explain it. The bags are firestone sleeve bags.

Today I rolled the car outside for a better look, while I cleaned the shop out-it needed it! Heres a couple of outside pics

Ah , gotcha now Dodge , in the earlier pics it looked like the bags were sitting on a single leaf spring , cheers for the info , more pics would be great !

You've probably guessed that I'm planning a similar project myself , got hold of a 31 A sedan body to mess with , your project is an inspiration mate , thanks :)
