hi, my name's paul and i've been lurking here for a few years but never thought to join up. i live in paso robles, ca., i'm sure you all know where that is. i'm a service plumber. girlfriend of 11 years, no kids, one cat. just bought a house in paso that takes up most of the free time and money. i think that covers me. i came over from volksrods.com and have a 1956 ghia along with a very rusted and dying 1952 porsche that will one day come back alive. that's the last you'll hear about my vw's, i've paid attention to what's "on topic" here and i've got a few other boards that i can talk veedub's on. so, i've just recently picked up a 1966 chevy 1/2 ton truck. straight six, 3 on the tree. it's going to be a daily/work truck/custom but remain reliable and economic. it's most likely going to get dropped a few inches, tuned up and made reliable and roll it. i'll probably end up asking some stupid straight six questions, as this is my first old american ride. here's a pic of the new truck. **edit** i just realized that this should be in the intro section. can a moderator move this?
Word Up Paul welcome to the hamb Some of us who have "roots" in vws dont mind chattin about em 56 FIRST YEAR FOR THE GHIA SWEET! Rich
maybe if our house had more than 800 square feet. sorry, blame the central coast real estate market. i could buy 5 times the house back in colorado for the same price. maybe you could camp in the yard? paul
52 porsche is a rare one. my dad has one and its definatly my favirote of the 356's. dont want to sell the front bumber do ya? haha
Paul welcome from a little way up the coast, I started my hands on love affair with old cars with split screen VW buses (REALLY wish I'd kept all of them with the prices these days). My dad raced Porsches in the 50's early 60's too. Cool truck, early to mid 60's Chevy/GMC trucks are very nice, great lines and keep that baby inline. Get Leo Santucchi's book on hoping up those motors, you can do some serious tire smoking with em'! Ted
