Today was my Hudson's maiden voyage. It's been a bit of a struggle but most the bugs have been worked out and it's running pretty good. Now I need to restore the interior and one day I'll redo the paint. It shows well in pictures but is pretty beat up. Doesn't matter I'm not sure anything can knock this smile off my face. Got the tags and insurance Wednesday but other things kept me from being able to drive it. Anyway, I'm off to go more driving!!!
NOTHING, is like that first drive. If you put a 100,000 miles on that car you'll still remember exactly what you did and where you went that first drive. Congratulations!! Frank
You go. That looks awesome. Wish I could drive mine but it's in a bazillion pieces now. Won't be ready for a few years. Hope I live long enough to enjoy it. Good luck with your beautiful ride. Ken
Great looking ride, love those Hudsons. They're pretty popular in these parts. I know a guy in the next town over that's got 3 of them (2 cars and a pick up) and another guy with a pair.
Just got back home, took the family out to dinner, my daughters LOVE it. A few things I need to address. The seatbelts I put in the rear for them don't tighten enough so I need to get new ones of those and I need to check the points gap and maybe the timing. It runs great though, shifts and stops like a new car it just wants to break up a little bit until it's good an warm.
Congratulations!!! Its a great feeling when you finally hit the road! What a great looking car Enjoy the ride Bobby
Wow, that looks good, congrats on the first drive. Somehow I was expecting no paint and no glass with you sitting on folding lawn chair cruising around the block. I believe you have raised the bar for maiden voyages of the project car just a bit.
My first love was this 49 Hudson Coupe with Hornet engine and OD transmission. Great car, wish I still had it! Hope you enjoy yours as much!
That's fantastic!!! Mine is the same set up, 49 with the 308 and OD. Today didn't go as well though. Went out to enjoy it this morning and the starter crapped out on me. It spins but won't engage so I know of a local shop that will rebuild it but I have to wait until Monday to bring it to them.
Love it! Being a big man, 6' 5" 260#, I always liked the headroom and legroom in them, one of the most comfortable riding cars of all time.
