Alright so i am trying to fix my damn 1954 Ford Customline, and put new wheel seals in, and the wheel seals i took out have only a ford logo and a Made in USA stamped in, but no part number. now i went to NAPA auto parts and ordered a US spec seal which is Wheel Seal I.D. : 1.938"
    Wheel Seal O.D. : 2.506"
    US made

    Canada made
    Wheel Seal I.D. : 1.688"
    Wheel Seal O.D. : 2.627"

the outer diameter on the US made one was correct, but inner diameter wasn't it was too wide

the Canadian spec seal was correct on the inside, but too narrow on the outside

There should be a listing for seals by dimensions..........if not application........you should be able to find what you need in that list.

  3. There should be a part number on the old seal.......I have had to beadblast old seals to find the part number.......Ford used a lot of part numbes for the same seal, UNLESS you have some other year, make spindles.......

there is no part number, they look like factory stock metal seals, with the ford logo in them and thats it. they aren't in horrible shape, bead blasting wouldnt help. there is no evidence of a part number anywhere, how do i find out if i might have different spindles? what would tell me? i mean this car is like all original. i would find it to be VERY strange if it had some different spindles.

  5. timkin part numbers: 24500-0834 (narrow), should work
    29507-5408 (wide)

i don't think those national part numbers are going to help me at all, since i have none to begin with...

  7. I was not going by the part number, I referenced the chart and used your sizes to come up with those seal numbers.

What does your ID and OD measure? Take that measurement and buy whatever fits that...

Canadian 1954 Fords still had flathead engines and king pins. That is the reason I am sure, that the seals are different.

pg409 if that's true that helps a TON! the outer diameter of the seal is 2.5 inner is roughly 1 and 15/16ths now how come the seal from napa part number 19221 didn't fit over the spindle? the inner diameter was too wide. it comes up when you search wheel seal for 1954 ford
    Wheel Seal I.D. : 1.938"
    Wheel Seal O.D. : 2.506"

maybe the manufacturer of the NAPA wheel seal has the fitment specs off? i ordered 2 wheel seals from MACS ford parts, I REALLY REALLY REALLY hope and pray they fit!!!!!

I think you should listen to Ricks Garage and young'n'poor.

Doing an intro wouldn't hurt either.

yeah and I tried those part numbers you gave me but where the hell do i order them from? what are they? tried google for those Timken numbers i got nothing, doesn't help my case a bit.
where exactly do you expect me to go to find those part numbers?

Alright I've got another question, how close we're the factory tolerances for these seals when they went onto the hub? Anybody have a picture of a 1954 ford hub?
