I am working on the Lakewood Ford updating and have run into a minor 'setback'. The steering column on the Lakewood had a bad rag box and the turn signal cancelling mechanism is not working correctly. We matched the rag box up with available couplings and that is done but I cannot identify the turn signal mechanism because there are no usefull numbers on the column and I cannot ID the steering wheel although I believe it is from the 70's. The Ford logo seems to have been glued in place and the padding was originally maroon and has been dyed black. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Bob Bertolasi

That's 100 percent a Cadillac steering column! No doubt brother!

Oops you are right it is Caddy, sorry

  6. Cadillac circa 1980. Their (almost) ugliest wheel, ever. Should be a slot on top where the tilt lever went. TS mech will need to be tilt-tele, IIRC tilt alone won't work right.

It's Cadillac, I had 2 80s caddys, that's the exact steering wheel, google pictures of Cadillac steering wheels and columns, it will show up. I'm 100 percent on this .

Take the cover off the wheel, it will have a thin wood grain strip in it.

Thanks to all of you. I have been scouring the web for several days and in less than 5 minutes you have put me right on. I found a picture of an 81 Cad steering wheel a few moments ago and it is exact match to angles/surfaces. Now I can get on to finding new turn signal mechanism. Thanks again, hope you all have a great Easter. bob

While the wheel and shift lever definitely look early 80s Cadillac the gear indicator is not. You may have a Frankenstein, take a pic showing more of the column.

Thanks for that input. I believe that the original was dash indicator for gear and the original customizers used the IDIDIT prndl indicator (self stick tape to column) and pointer to get the display to work with the Ford dash. Attached are two pictures of the current dash condition and the IDIDIT info from Drake.
